The last thing I was hoping to achieve is the classical night kill analysis. Many people balk at the very idea of trying this, and I think they're wrong. Wifom is wifom blah blah, but we're remiss if we don't at least take a look. Moreover, in a mountainous game, at least one of the layers of wifom does not exist -- there are no doctor dodges. So it'd behoove us to review Mac and see where he sat. What we do with that I don't know right now, but we honor his memory enough to give him a voice.

I kinda expected to be the kill because I was during D1 consensus town read with no on-going conflicts with other players. Whereas Mac, also highly town read, had a thing with Wilgy that could be exploited and easier to tinfoil because of Falcon and of site history*.

We are currently tied falcon vs creature. If it stays like that I support a falcon vote more than a creature vote. I think he is the more suspicious of the two, and I think that we can form some decent connections with his flip given a lot of folks have given opinions or had interactions with him. More than anything though I don’t want it to end in the tie option. Again I’ll try to stay up

Well I wasn’t wrong that when I think he is scum, he is town. It was a weak day 1 vote based off of general vibes and tone, so I can see why my vote should be looked at because I think it was a pretty lame and vague vote but just because it’s a bad vote it doesn’t come from a bad/scum place. Tbh I can think of a lot of reasons why scum would kill Mac. He is a very solid town player who is relentless with suspicion, so perhaps it’s nothing more than the scum team wanted him out of the way before he went after one of them.

Spur on activity, people usually dont like being voted. I also just like to hit everyone day 1. Some times I forget who I have hit and dont get them all. I usually know how people react to being voted its nice to see consistency or make them fake consistency or just learn for next game.

At that time I really dont think we were at risk of a tie and many people had already voiced their concern at a tie myself included.

I've never actually played with Boq, Nate, or lucy, nor have I put much thought into my read of them this game, which is why they are here. Sean, I don't recall having reason to believe is town (actually I did list one, but I no longer feel that reasoning exists), and Ender was the player I think looks most suspicious thus far.

I don't feel comfortable with the state of this read list, so I will put some effort into adjusting this, both in further informing my poor reads and also further pursuing if I still feel that my light town reads are still townie. I do feel confident on Wilgy and Jay at least.

You put Ender scum but dont point to anything specific? I know what I would point to as pretty suspicious behaviour but what do you see?

I talked about it at the end of Day 1, but his progression to a vote on falcon was non-existant after stating an early townread.

His progression on me today is basically the same. He placed a vote on me without reason. He also stated around that time that he would spend some time investigating a couple other players (I think lucy and fs). I suggested he investigate me given he was voting for me, and his response was "if I have time"

My concern with Ender Day 1 was that he was looking for a way to join the falcon wagon even though he couldn't nor hadn't found a reason to do so, and now that he's doing it to me today, I'm more convinced.

I had the three analytic methods in mind and was hoping to get some folks to volunteer to help. I thought it would be better to get an eager taker first for each of those methods and then express what I had in mind instead of spamming each idea into the thread immediately, have people see "that's work", and decline to bother with it.

To be frank I didn't expect people to be so down to get involved, but that's a pleasant surprise.

Alison/Wilgy probably not mafia teammates. If one assumes Alison to be mafia, the progression below looks more like TMI than defense of a teammate to me.

Keep in mind moving forward as I post things like this, the premise of a two-way interaction read requires that I assume either player in the interaction to be mafia-aligned to see if it fits. Don't get that scrambled later in the game if I am dead and you return to this stuff. Use it for reference, however.

I am considering the exchanges between DrWilgy and Mac, and I have a vague concern.

The overall message of Wilgy’s read on Mac seems to slant positive. Indeed, my impression of that read is: Mac looks town except for his suspicion of me. There’s a resistance to rattling cages in that — one could argue Mac’s cage is being rattled, but only in response to receiving rattling from him. If Wilgy is mafia, here’s the rough translation:

Mac is town, too town for me to fully attack, but I have to at least do something about his correct read on me

I’m not sure I view the hedging as authentic

That's one interpretation, sure. Another is "Mac has been townie, but I'm bothered by his bad read on me - he's usually better than this as town". What about Wilgy's behavior makes you interpret it the first way rather than the second?

Wilgy has not played this game the way I think he would as mafia. Boquise mentioned earlier that he was townreading Rondo in part because Rondo seemed to be attacking people and had no interest in making friends despite his (formerly) precarious thread position, suggesting that he cares more about the truth of people's alignments than in staying alive. I think a similar argument applies to Wilgy; his aggression against a widely-townread, power-town Mac was a bold move, and I think it was a result of an authentic thought process more than a scheme to wriggle out of trouble. As discussed earlier, it's quite plausible to me that his indignation about Mac scumreading him comes from a sense of townie entitlement. He has focused his solving around the people voting him, which I think is a natural thing to do in his position (the person being pushed usually has the best perspective on who is doing it for nefarious reasons).

One concern I have about Wilgy is that his solving feels a tad shallow. But this concern is outweighed by the townieness of his approach (outlined above), so I townread him overall.

I am amenable to Creature and Falcon wagons, and would be happy to lend my support to either. I am less enthusiastic about Dizzy or Wilgy wagons; I think Creature and Falcon are both scummier than an =rand player, even if you look past Dizzy trying harder as scum, and I have a townread on Wilgy.

Wilgy is my against-the-grain townread; I think there's enough townie moments in his posts that I wouldn't vote him out.

Alison/lucy would make a bit of an awkward team given Alison's game entry. Some of her initial involvement was to question lucy, and lucy's responses don't give me an impression of coordination or deliberateness. Indeed the last thing here is just a dismissal altogether.

excited is quoting me, I was paraphrasing lag. i was framing it as competition where for me personally that specific framing has positive connotations due to the lack of competition I normally face in games/school and whatnot. one concern i had was pulling wolf, thankfully I didn't cause then this lobby would become a burden compared to an asset

Alison/Rondo are probably not mafia teammates. If we assume Alison to be mafia, she has chosen Rondo as her token punching bag for much of her post history. If Rondo is mafia, his responses look like the goofery of a mafioso trying to win an argument with a town aggressor by treating it as something not to be taken seriously.

He's shitposted a lot, but there are flashes of opinions that I like. His treating of JJJ's readlist I think is townie. While I don't like his falcon vote, that's not the only vote he made Day 1 that kinda lacked context. He did so with fingersplits as well as Wilgy.

I also read a little bit of his Champs game (where he was wolf), and there was way less shitposting early on. He might have just taken that game more seriously, but the approach is very different here.

I haven't done a proper meta dive to check into the nuances, but my impression of Ender during champs game 1 was not "shitposter" -- I'd agree with that much. To anyone who is voting for fingersplints, here's a couple links to recent wolf games from her.

Fargo Mafia - ok this was from a year ago. This is one of fs's most active games I've seen, she spent a lot of time early on talking about pretty much anything but reads, and even her reads were not very strong at the start.
Mafia Syndicate Normal Game - this is from a few months ago, fs barely posted, and her posts were all very short, and she does seem stilted in this one.

I'm not seeing either of these things from her. Yes fingersplints doesn't post a lot, but that is normal for her (and really it's that the rest of us just post way too much). What I have seen here is an almost immediate attempt to generate reads, explain them, and she's also considering how the game will play out based on flips and looking ahead, an approach which appears to be lacking in her scum meta.
