I do hear what people are saying about loyalty and failed btsc, though. We want someone who is present in our tribe and committed. I was nodding along with a boom vote because I was worried about commitment. But Boom's come in with fire.

Any ideas on what this night poll is going to do for us?

My thought was it will impact the other tribe, and they have an identical poll that will impact us.

That's an interesting thought. Do we want to collaborate on which option we vote for?

I assumed it was what we'd prefer. I'd prefer a downpour to those others, for us. For them? Food poisoning.

It feels like we've got two names on the table, boom and Wilgy. I'll give my pros and cons for my own personal vote:

Boomslang:

Pros

It felt like he nearly cost us the first challenge for a while there, with being absent
He's going idol hunting without seeking input and then saying its for the tribe

Cons

He had a legit excuse for his absence
He's coming in with fire and feels like a team player

(A note on idol hunting - I actually think it's a good idea to send people out on idol sorties for the tribe. I could see us being able to protect our group with it later).

Wilgy:

Pros

Is he loyal?
Is he active enough or could he be a liability in challenges

Cons

He's genuinely sick, which can explain his absence
I said I wouldn't vote for him, and I don't want to dishonour that

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For me, the most important thing right now is the ability to be present and in the challenges because we need to win them. I've not yet seen anything that suggests anyone else is having a problem being available and contributing, so it's hard for me to justify a vote elsewhere.
Oh, man... I voted trust... so did wilgy and inh. That's why we got day btsc! I should have figured that one out sooner.
What about the rest of you. Did you get food for saying sustenance?
I sure hope I did. Haven't gotten our updated stats to verify that yet. (Although I had fish from the fishing so that might have held me over) My Day 2 stats were just about even from Day 1 so if there was a change or boon I didn't notice.
But one last point, DH: if this is really about choosing Day 2 actions, why haven't you said a word about the actions of Speedchuck or Golden? Both of them took walks outside of camp as well. In fact you even said this about Speedchuck: "I admire your ability to do the work that's necessary to keep this tribe on the winning side of things."
Because Golden and Speedchuck earned the right to take those walks by way of challenge one.
Speedchuck did literally the same thing I did in challenge one: the willpower option on leg four. You're applying your criteria inconsistently.
You're not understanding my criteria. Speedchuck was here and following the input of the tribe. You weren't here and picked that option essentially by default.
Your absence Day 1 is the least of my concerns, as I've said, its that despite that absence you feel entitled to idol hunt, lie about why, and pick a fight with the King.
And make no mistake as far as I'm concerned from Day 0 loyalty to the tribe is loyalty to me.
I didn't lie about why I was taking the walk, I merely pointed out that what I was doing was the same thing you were doing. I think you're more concerned with having a second strong voice on the tribe, or as you call it, me "picking a fight with the King."
Let's make this clear right off the bat: I have no intention of going after you. I think your leadership has motivated our tribe to work together and get good outcomes on our challenges so far. But I think you need another voice that's goading you and the tribe on the further greatness through tough love, harsh truths—a black rock for the yellow rock. A Fool for the King, as it were. I think the tribe can't yet afford to lose what I have to offer. "Fire," as Golden has said.
Elohcin wrote: Took walks outside of camp. Does this means these three may have gained info about the other tribe? I didn't even catch that til now. Golden, Chuck, Slang? Did you? If so...what was it?
This the result of my action, posted in full for your dissection: "As you walk among the rock crags, you see a rock in the woods that eerily resembles an old man’s face. But otherwise nothing out of the ordinary."
I'm seeing a pattern:
I saw a divot in the base of the palm
speed saw a shining shell
boom saw a rock like an old man's face
These are potential idol hiding places. Perhaps we need to look more closely at them or something?
I appreciate it. Just wanted to further my perspective a little more. In that case, are we feeling good about a Wilgy vote?
Linki: Quite possibly. It may be that the options need a certain threshold of actions before they give up their goods.
Does anyone want to admit to silencing Wilgy? I didn't silence him.
I haven't seen him here. I think the likely explanation is that he is really sick.
We've been remarkably open and honest as a group. If we have a silencer amongst us, there's no need to hold that back I think.
Having said that, it doesn't feel likely as a mechanic in this particular game.
I agree. In a game where discussion is so vital, I doubt silencing would be present. I don't have that ability, and it doesn't seem particularly thematic for any of the roles. If we had a gangster or something, maybe, but I doubt it.
If the odds are good that Wilgy is *faking* his silence, or is too sick to bother checking in, I could justify a vote for him.
Weighing boom and wilgy up, I feel like I need to vote for boom.
I made a word to wilgy for today and I want people to know my word is good in this game. I do understand the points against him and I hope he is silenced and not just phoning it in. But I came into tonight thinking boom would be my vote (I didn't realise there were extenuating circumstances around nearly missing the first challenge), and while I've really been wavering around Wilgy, in the end I feel like honouring my word is more important.
I'm also fine with our Negan-king. I think he's helped solidify us as a tribe (surprisingly. I didn't expect to feel that way, but I think the style of leadership is working). So, I don't know that we need iron to sharpen iron.
But it's exactly that fire that worries me. It's a fire that feels divisive. We need to be unified and we need to work together--that's not what I've seen from Boom and that's not what I've seen in his posts during tribal. His posts have made me not trust that he's going to sing doodoodoodoodoo to our tribal manamana.
Also, on the chance that Wilgy has been silenced, I'm not willing to vote for him. My feelings on this are well documented. And given that he's made 3 posts in another game since the night began in this game, I'm not willing to believe that he's too sick to post. It also seems out of character to not follow through on requesting BTSC from who he said he was going to request BTSC from. So, yeah, maybe he's evil (although I'm not sure we have a mafia in this game, and it would be a little odd and off theme if we did). But maybe he's actually unable to post due to game mechanics. This early in the game, I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt.
I definitely dont have a silencing ability and I don't really feel like that would be an aspect of this game. I've got no problem with Wilgy and I'm sorry that he's sick, but Boomslang feels like an intelligent player to me. I feel like he'll be an asset to our tribe so I'm not going to vote for him. I'm sorry we have to vote anyone out at all when there wasn't even an immunity challenge
Exile Island?
It's a possibility, but assuming this game follows real Survivor, the decision to exile would be at the tribal level, or as a punishment from the other tribe earned from winning. I sincerely doubt one person would be given the power to exile, and I would imagine exile would be publicly announced in the thread.
If Wilgy is in fact sick, he could struggle to the computer to make a post informing us of that fact. If he can't do that, causing us to bark down all these wrong trees, is he truly devoted to the tribe?
He has posted in another game. He, in fact, did so first thing this RL morning. That is generally how people let folks know that they are silenced.
You're arguing against the idea that he's sick, which isn't actually what I'm positing. I think he's probably silenced.
It's not my power. But I accept it as a power that might exist in the game.
I sincerely doubt one person would be given the power to exile, and I would imagine exile would be publicly announced in the thread.
If Wilgy is in fact sick, he could struggle to the computer to make a post informing us of that fact. If he can't do that, causing us to bark down all these wrong trees, is he truly devoted to the tribe?
He has posted in another game. He, in fact, did so first thing this RL morning. That is generally how people let folks know that they are silenced.
You're arguing against the idea that he's sick, which isn't actually what I'm positing. I think he's probably silenced.
It's not my power. But I accept it as a power that might exist in the game.
I accept that the power may exist as well. I don;t have it though. But what about the BTSC thing. Why would he fail to send that in?
We know he sent in his rock pm, and he agreed to BTSC in the thread, so I can't imagine a reason he wouldn't also PM btsc--probably in the same PM. Why send a message about one and not mention the other? That just doesn't make sense.
It's weird. I agree. But I want to know the reason for the weird. It seems more likely to me that he's somehow blocked from anything, than it is that he has posted multiple times in another game, and has not done anything at all in this game. That just seems odd. Not uncommitted, as Boom seems to want us to think, but odd. I want an explanation, not to be rid of him. At least not yet.
I'm only a little hungry as of the last day. I wouldn't want resources to be used on me if there are those who are truly hungry.
Speedchuck, you've been pretty quiet throughout these deliberations. You said that you'd be ok with a Wilgy vote because he made you waste your BTSC shot. Are you willing to commit to that?
Alright, I've got to go out for most of the night; I think poll ends at 1 am EST, so I should be back before then. For now, a direct appeal to our King:
I'm an asset to you unique among the tribe. You've got a lot of people who are nodding along, singing "Kumbaya," not sticking their necks out—and then there's me. I'm analyzing challenges, suggesting bold new directions, taking actions on courses you may not have considered. I give you possibilities to choose from, analysis to work with. I hold you accountable, but I'll hold others accountable too. And if you have my back this council, when push comes to shove, I'll promise I'll have yours with more fire and tenacity than Wilgy showed when not silenced.
Yes. Insulting the rest of the tribe by (inaccurately) calling us lemmings is definitely your best strategy.
I know you all are debating boom or wilgy. I am stating that I will vote wilgy. As I said before, I have BTSC with him. He's promised to stick with the team and play for the team even after the merge. I have not talked with wilgy. I have not heard his thoughts. I see no reason for him to have given up on trying for BTSC. So he will get my vote. So sorry if this goes against the tribe.
Also, anyone need food? I would hate to waste food there is someone who is not full.
Banners are cool, but a pain to scroll through so...
I've won a lot of games. I've hosted some games. The end.
Understood and appreciated. I totally get your reasoning.
I mean...if no one else wants the food, I'll take it. But my hunger wasn't that low. I don't believe in wasting food, though. So, if no one is going to claim it, I'd rather eat than waste.
But, please, if someone else is more than 1 point below their full hunger, please claim the food!!!!
I kinda don't like the challenging thing that Boom is doing toward DH, but in the end, nobody wants to be eliminated, so I get it.
It's weird that I can't scumhunt in this game.
Boomslang, do you have any role-related reasons to think you're essential to the team?
Those that had BTSC for a few minutes with wilgy this morning...did he tell his role and any reasons he would be very beneficial to the tribe?
He did tell me his role. He could be of some challenge benefit potentially, but I'm sure boom could be to.
Well, I'm going to be indisposed for the next few hours before the deadline so a few words of wisdom:
Whether we land on Dr Wilgy or Boom, I trust the tribe to make the right call. Whoever remains out of Boom/Doc will have a lot of work to do to earn a spot back on the totem pole.
Keep in mind even in my absence:
