Yeah, if we had active claim deterrents, our benevolent hosts would have said something about it in the rules. I believe the game design itself is our anti-claim mechanic.

You are a calico domestic shorthair werecat. You may safely claim to be a calico domestic shorthair cat.





Calico cats are the result of unique coat genetics that cause splotches of orange, black, and white. They are considered a good luck charm in some cultures - Japanese fishermen used to bring them onto their ships as protection from storms, and the famous Japanese Beckoning Cat is placed in business and home entrances for good luck. While most calico cats are female, a rare few are males with an extra X chromosome. Unfortunately the males are not so lucky, as their genetic abnormalities often cause health issues.

You are aligned with the werecreatures faction.

Your base role is 1-shot impatient poisoner. Once during the game during any night phase no later than Night 2, you may select a player. That player will be poisoned, and they will not be informed of this. If not cured, they will die at the end of the following day phase.

You have one community role. Once during the game during any night phase, you may select a player from your own community. That player will be immune to all role blocking abilities, from both role blockers and jailkeepers. Note that this does not apply to piercing protective abilities or commuter abilities. This ability is loud.

Your win condition is to eliminate all threats to your team and achieve parity with the town faction.

Night 3 will last 24 hours until 10:00 PM EDT. Please have all night actions submitted by 8:00 PM EDT.

Additionally, we are opening a vote to [possibly] reduce the length of the game cycles from 48/24 to 24/24. Please vote for your choice, to reduce or not reduce, in your private Discord channel. Please do NOT discuss this vote or this change (or non-change) in any capacity in the game thread moving forward.

We will only change the lengths of the cycles if the vote is unanimous. We will count non-votes as "yes, reduce it", so if you don't want this make sure you clearly tell us that. We'll reveal at the end of the night phase whether or not this is happening.

Day Three: Knock Knock



“Walk pls” meowed the calico cat, as he pranced around the watering hole and the other animals watched. “Steps pls.”

The kangaroo leaned over to the okapi and whispered behind her paw, “What is wrong with that cat?” she asked, and the okapi approximated a shrug. The kangaroo didn’t realize how good the cat’s hearing was.

“No pls,” said the calico, stopping to lick a paw, “Only cattos speak now. Good cattos.” The other animals looked at each other in growing alarm as he continued to whisper good cattos to himself over and over again, but they felt compelled to listen. They followed the calico in his path around the watering hole until all the animals had formed the slowest, strangest conga line the earth had ever seen. Eventually they made a complete circle, gentle waves of water lapping at their feet. The calico cat stopped abruptly and turned, looking at each animal individually. This took a while, as there were hundreds of creatures gathered. The silence dragged on. The sloth started to doze off. Finally, the cat spoke.

“Explain…softly,” asked the cat, “Why do you hate fruits?”
At first there was no reply, and then the cat remembered he had told them not to speak.
“Answer pls.”
“It is not that we hate fruits,” said a porcupine, “It is that we think you might have poisoned them.”
“Why pls?” said the cat, a barely detectable edge to his voice.
“Probably because you refuse to eat them yourself!” shouted a pigeon. “You just keep sending them to others, with murderous intent!”
“Unlikely pls. They are gifts pls,” said the cat, his fur beginning to stand on end. He was small and it only made him look the slightest bit more intimidating.
“Still it’s pretty suspicious,” said a hippopotamus, “Why don’t you eat just one, to prove to us they are safe?”
The cat swallowed hard, He hadn’t expected this. He decided to try a diversion tactic he had learned from a now-deceased…well, friend wasn’t really the right word in this scenario, was it? Anyway…

“Knock knock” he said. The other animals blinked. “Knock. Knock.” he said again, more insistent this time.
“Who’s there?” said a tiny field mouse.
“Banana” said the cat.
“Banana who?” a springbok chimed in.
“Knock knock”
“Who’s there?”
“Banana”
“Banana who?”
“Knock knock”
This went on for several minutes, the other animals growing frustrated with the never-ending bananas with no resolution. The calico carried on, not knowing how to stop now that he had started, and not wanting to give the others a chance to start questioning him again.
“Who’s there?” a weary voice said after more than a dozen knock knocks, and before the calico could reply, someone came up behind him, grabbed his jaws, opened his mouth wide, and shoved a piece of fruit inside.
“Orange” said his assailant.
“Ownge whhhh,” mumbled the terrified cat as he tried desperately not to bite down on the citrus that was lodged in his mouth.
“Orange you glad I didn’t say banana?” said the other, forcing the cat’s jaws shut. The fruit burst in the calico’s mouth, its juices running down his throat and chin. He was dead in moments.
Yes, it seems the fruit had been poisoned after all.
