Re: Philosophers' Mafia [DAY 3]

What the fuck. Why quick wagon me while I'm post capped and can't do anything? And without an actual analysis of ANYTHING I've done. smh

Insulting after what I've put into the game so far. Yeeting me after a fair discourse is bad but understandable. Doing this in the span of a couple hours - when I haven't been in contention at all - and while I can't post is just awful.

But also I probably needed to be put out of my misery anyways. I came out of pseudo-retirement for this, which I'm realizing was a mistake because I hate myself when I play this game for what it does to me.

meme for nute:
Spoiler: show
Whether we win the game or lose the game is beside the argument. You shooting MR, if you are a villager, is probably the worst single janivig shot in the history of janivig shots that I have ever seen, in my entire life, in 3 years, on MU, on POG, and I've been a host for 2 of them and played dozens. It is potentially one of the most anti-town actions I've laid my eyes on in my entire WW career. It is atrocious, dumbfounding, and inexcusable, and close to the border of gamethrowing. And sullies your entire effort to the game, so that your biggest contribution to the game is one in which you are literally indistinguishable to an outted wolf whose team has been decimated so far. Indeed, if you are a villager then wolves got an extra wolf, meaning that YOU ALONE are responsible for making this setup wolfsided. Think about that for a second.

Re: Philosophers' Mafia [DAY 3]

Last post for the round. I honestly thought this was going to be quicker so I wasted a lot. It's fine though.
Amy wrote: Sat Jul 25, 2020 7:11 pm i'm fine with you not claiming. i was hoping LC would flavorclaim but i suppose i'm ok with him not having done so since worlds where he's scum are convoluted to begin with

so here's the deal

i concealed a portion of my role. when i target someone at night, in addition to my adding/subtracting posts cycle, i'm also informed as to whether or not they share their country or school with mine

as you can imagine, my first thought with this was "if anyone claims italian or classical and i get a 'no' result, i know they're lying", hence why i've pushed so hard for people to be full flavor claiming

unfortunately, literally only nanook has claimed to actually overlap me, and he's basically confirmed town anyways

so now i'm wondering if some of the scumteam has their school listed as "Classical"? it would make... some degree of sense, and it would make that part of my role something beyond "literally useless"

anyways yeah this is why i've been jonesing for people's claims

neither iaafr nor dizzy overlap(ped) me

18/60
Very convoluted and strange role to have, especially when it has two very different aspects to it. Hmmm
Your school is really just classical?

No, I don't think it would necessarily match your school to that of the wolves I'm pretty sure they have specific schools as well (I just can't remember them). My suspicion is that you brought this up simply to make your role vaguely useful so that you could deter us from chopping you.

Like it's certainly possible given everything and how you've approached it, but we can't just give in to every believable claim.

tutuu wrote: Sat Jul 25, 2020 7:29 pm well

the nationality for iaafr cant overlap anyway. if he's town its genevian, if he's scum its greek, both are different

if he's town its enlightenment, no overlap. if he's scum, maybe it would overlap? are all greek philosopher classicists? idk tbh

if all greek philosophers are classicists, then basically amy has a green peek on iaafr?
I don't think so. Amy's flavour claim and the ancient Greeks are very different philosophies from a thousand years apart. There's no way this would be balanced if she could wield it like an investigation as town.

Long Con wrote: Sat Jul 25, 2020 7:57 pm If there is some sort of soup kill, I want to be left standing. That's the only reason I haven't claimed - fear of that knowledge just handing the scum the game.

What kind of game do you prefer? I have found this one interesting.
I'm being dramatic. I don't particularity enjoy games that are basically 100% claim- and flavourclaim-based past D1, which is what this has turned into. I know I signed up for this.
Ignore me.

NANOOKTHEGREATANDFEARSOME wrote: Sat Jul 25, 2020 8:10 pm If amy and tutuu are both real, AND dizzy was real, I have to assume that scum has/had a godfather type role

Occam’s razor is that Amy isn’t real? But idk I haven’t really had time to think about if that’s stupid or not.

Similar to LC I’m reluctant to have everyone full claimed in case of a flavor vig or similar. Proooooobably fine if everyone but tutu and one other is claimed I guess?
Yeah

Given the benefits of flavour claiming, I don't think it's a stretch that the wolves had something to gain when we released that info. Not sure what.

My super far out tin foil was that WWH was the Godfather because she was vehemently asking to be solved or peeked. But I don't really believe that and I wouldn't care anyways because that's also a stupid mechanic.

protocultures wrote: Sat Jul 25, 2020 8:56 pm Is it normal for town to have 2 Vigi type roles in a closed game of this size?

Not a leading question btw.
Considering they were one-shots, it's not that far out.

---------------

I guess goodbye until hammer or the actual EoD (I would lol).

Gun to my head between Amy and Colin, I go Amy but it's still close. Colin hasn't been inspiring. Amy's role can be fabricated.

I'm already concerned that nutella is angling for my misyeet now. It's really like she's put the PoE on autopilot now that she "clear". That could be a real towny thing though.
And where did Hally go?

--------

Decided to do an short Amy ISO because I want to get in everything:
Spoiler: show

The thing with wolf!Amy in the easy world is that she bussed both teammates, and apparently she doesn't do that. Now, we should note the caveat that Kaz was not even playing and was never getting saved, and that by the time N1 rolled around, MR was basically already chopped. So it's not a reach to have bussing here. MR wasn't mentioned much until after the chop, I believe - at that point Amy shared the opinion that MR was probably bad; but it would've been hard to go in any other direction.

Amy wrote: Wed Jul 22, 2020 8:52 pm kza's blatantly refusing to come anywhere near playing the game

i'm never not killing that and i'm not feeling bad about it if it somehow flips v

[but i don't think it does]
Here's an interesting thing with Kaz. At the time this felt to me like Amy was furious at Kaz in the wolfchat and it was leaking into the thread. But it's also believable from a town mindset.

After all this stuff it really gets null or I'm too lazy to dig deeper.

I mean, truly, she has been towny this game, but it's just a PoE game unfortunately. If this hits town we have to be better tomorrow in terms of digging and exploring our blindspots.

1) what you did on n1
2) what you did on n2
3) what will you do on n3 (and don't change your decision)

So that it can help us solve

If you're already truthfully claimed without WIFOM apologies, I didn't see it
What? How am I next in line for a misyeet? As much as I want out of this game, that would be terrible.

I believe so now that I think about it. town!Hally would have redirected the kill mostly likely (unless he didn't submit and Tim died through other means). And Hally and Colin aren't likely as a scheming pair. UGH. A town redirector is still so outrageously overpowered and ridiculous in this game. What is going on. If Hally is town, we'll be looking at the roles and events afterwards and will be thinking this game was gifted to us on multiple levels (despite the epic plays from some of you, obviously).

Fuck. My Colin pressure may be wasted right now.

Well, my intention with the bait was to force proto down this road. I don't know what to do with the results exactly. His full-fledged dive into this feels so real and paranoia driven. He's simply pocketed me badly this game if he's wolfing.

[mention]protocultures[/mention] , btw, I don't think Colin and Hally are ever w/w. Because if they were they would've just faked the tracking result while Hally redirected my save, letting them kill tutuu. Really, there was no reason to let tutuu have another peek in that case.

Btw Colin kinda confirmed Hally's role. He tracked Hally, who redirected his action to WWH, who visited Dizzy; Colin received a result of just "Dizzy".
They could be in cahoots but that's unlikely I suppose. Also, I have no doubt Hally is a redirector of some sort.

Why are you advocating to waste tutuu's peek? That wouldn't be good.

I think hammering this morning isn't a terrible idea because I'm running out of posts, and so is rabbit (if not already).

Colin, if you are town I think you have to make a sacrifice. Nothing you can do will get you out of the PoE and the other roles in the game are in conflict with yours. Maybe Proto has pocketed me hard but I think we check you first out of the two. You may say that you're a confirmed tracker. You may say that trackers are underpowered on wolf teams. Both true. But I think it's just clear that unless we are in my tin foil world the wolves were neutered anyways.

We have the most polar opposite philosophies so I don't expect to find common ground lol.

If we knowingly chopped Alison last night before she could share her thoughts or respond it would've been disrespectful. I'm sorry for my part in that. You're about to take someone out of the game by vote. At least have the decency to give them their final moments to get thoughts out in case they're town.

Re: Philosophers' Mafia [DAY 3]

But then looking at Tim's recent ISO reminds me he was pretty set on proto being the next right kill already last night. I think even before Alison's elim and definitely after.
So a fear kill there also aligns to proto wolf world.

I guess I'm used to there not being a nightchat available, but it still doesn't seem like good practice.

ty

I just think it's blatantly disrespectful to elim a non-confirmed player before they can even react to it. Even if you probably aren't changing your mind.
And the round is like 2 hours old too. lol

Re: Philosophers' Mafia [DAY 3]

Whatever. Sure, just flush someone before they can say anything.

It's a bad habit but idc. If this is another misyeet I want tutuu to check hally while colin tracks hally. I'll save tutuu again.

Re: Philosophers' Mafia [DAY 3]

Coming back to say I really don't want a quick hammer tonight. Many players haven't and won't have good chance to review things or do work they want. I get streamlining but let's not be silly. There are a couple things I want to go through as well.

And guys, that's what Tim would've wanted. And who knows, maybe that's why he died - for that attitude of always doing your due diligence, even in the face on a seemingly easy path.

Maybe I'm just so biased towards fake claiming and mechanics because that's how I'd wolf here. And that's what I expected in a game where almost everyone has some power.

I'll go now since I haven't contributed meaningfully since D1.
dont get emo sometimes we dont need to do anything but shitpost and annoy the clears while they carry

i have highly enjoyed your presence, you think very similarly to me overall
This is my only solace during these dark days

Hally, why isn't your role scary enough to kill? Like the wolves knew I was never saving you.
why would they kill me when half the players are still tinfoiling me as a wolf

they need the poe as wide as possible

killing me confirms me town and by extension nut and lc are also confirmed

it also removes me from the poe

that’s a game losing play for scum if they do that
Fine. I wanted to see how you'd approach that.

But let's be fair: we are almost always going for the low PoE before the tin foil catches up. I can convince people the theories are plausible, but I don't think we're actually going there before a couple more misyeets or a mechanical confirmations.
But I suppose if they're all in the PoE, their only hope may be the tin foil.
