This is the story of a man named Stanley. Stanley worked for a company in a big building where he was Employee 427. Employee 427's job was simple: he sat at his desk in room 427 and he pushed buttons on a keyboard. Orders came through a monitor on his desk, telling him what buttons to push, how long to push them, and in what order. This is what Employee 427 did every day of every month of every year, and although others might have considered it soul rending, Stanley relished every moment that the orders came in, as though he had been made exactly for this job.
And Stanley was happy.

And then one day something very peculiar happened. Something that would forever change Stanley. Something he would never quite forget. He had been at his desk for nearly an hour when he realized that not one single order had arrived on the monitor for him to follow. No-one had showed up to give him instructions, call a meeting, or even say hi. Never in all his years at the company had this happened, this complete isolation. Something was very clearly wrong. Shocked, frozen solid, Stanley found himself unable to move for the longest time. But as he came to his wits and regained his senses, he got up from his desk and stepped out of his office.

All of his co-workers were gone. What could it mean? Stanley decided to go to his boss's office, perhaps he had simply missed a memo.
When Stanley came to a set of two open doors, he entered the door on his left.
You have up to 24 hours to make a decision, but I will end the poll when a majority is reached.

Good luck.

>:ABOUTTHEGAME
[/size]

The Stanley Parable Mafia is a game about choice. The game focuses on a branching storyline that has up to fourteen endings. Each day, the players will vote on which path they would like the story to take. This will continue until an ending is reached. Different endings have different effects for different players. Some are good for the civilians, some are good for the mafia. Almost all of them eliminate a player in one way or another.

There is no "night" or "day". Then, you may ask, what power does the mafia have if it cannot kill anyone at night? The mafia have the most important and rarest thing is this game. Knowledge. The mafia knows which ways lead to what endings, and which endings do what. Of course, some information is concealed even from them. The mafia wins when all of the civilians have been eliminated. The civilians win once all of the mafia have been eliminated.

A polite request: In order to keep things moving at a brisk pace, and as to not still be playing this game come fall, please cast your votes as fast as possible, within reason of course. I will end the poll when a majority is reached, everyone has voted, or the time runs out. Whichever comes first.

Posts by the host in the default color are in character. Orange posts are out of character. Keep this in mind.

Sometimes, I will require someone to type in a command in order for the story to continue. If that is the case, I will speak in

Code: Select all

code.
Any and all questions are welcome.

After an ending is reached, the paths leading to it will be removed, and the cycle will start again. In this game, the end is never the end.

Popping in to take the path less-traveled.

And no I haven't even checked my role pm yet. So no ulterior motives. :)

Exactly! It's a horrible system designed to discourage ties.

This was not the correct way to the meeting room, and Stanley knew it perfectly well. Perhaps he wanted to stop by the employee lounge first, just to admire it.

Ahhhh, yes, truly a room worth admiring. It had really been worth the detour after all, just to spend a few moments here in this immaculate, beautifully constructed room.
Stanley simply stood here, drinking it all in.
Wow. Yes. This room. What a beautiful room. What a gorgeous, gorgeous room.
Thank goodness Stanley had taken this detour on his way to the meeting room. Life without having experienced this room was now too horrible even to consider.
Yes. Really, really worth it being here in the room. A room so utterly captivating that even though all your coworkers have mysteriously vanished, here you sit looking at these chairs and some paintings. Really worth it.
At this point, Stanley's obsession with this room bordered on creepy, and reflected poorly on his overall personality. It's possible that this is why everyone left.
But at last, he'd had enough of the amazing room, and took the first open door on his left to get back to business.
You have up to 24 hours to make a decision.

Stanley was so bad at following directions it's incredible he wasn't fired years ago.

Look Stanley, I think perhaps we've gotten off on the wrong foot here.
I'm not your enemy, really I'm not. I realize that investing your trust in someone else can be difficult, but the fact is that the story has been about nothing but you all this time.
There's someone you've been neglecting, Stanley. Someone you've forgotten about. Please, stop trying to make every decision by yourself.
I'm not asking for me, I'm asking for her.
This is it, Stanley. Your chance to redeem yourself. To put your work aside. To let her back into your life.
She's been waiting.
Stanley rode the Cargo Lift to the other side of the room.
You have up to 24 hours to make a decision.

That's her, Stanley. You need to be the one to do this, to reach out to her. If you can truly place your faith in another, then pick up the phone.

Image

"Oh Stanley, is that you? Hold on, sweetie, sorry to keep you waiting. I'm just pulling the bread out of the oven.
Alright, okay then, there we go. Alright now.
I want you to come in and tell me all about your day...."
Who will be the one to go inside?
You have 24 hours to make a decision.
