MM8: The Stanley Parable Mafia {THE END}

To those who this message concerns:

Good to see you. I've been off the radar for a while, haven't I? And I know how hard this lonely period has been on you. But I've been so terribly busy working on a game, that I think you'll just die for. You see, I was upset to learn that many players found some of my past games to be "confusing" and "contradictory". A far cry from the simple concepts that I had intended to showcase. So, to rectify this mistake, I'm taking steps to ensure that this upcoming game will be streamlined to remove any incoherent sections. Expect every part of the game to seamlessly make sense, and be fully explained. It's my hope that this new game will fix the somewhat embarrassing mistakes of some of my past games while definitively proving to the world that a game of mafia can make you think. I know our mutual friend Stanley would be devastated if he was left out, which is why he's graciously volunteered to star in the game. Or I'm sure he will, anyway. But until we ask him to make that choice, I offer you this. I remind you one's time is better spent living than waiting. So, go out and be productive. Make some choices. Enjoy the hours you have left. Perhaps you could even spare a thought for Stanley, sitting there with nothing but himself and his buttons, day after day. He's been getting rather comfortable, as humans tend to do when the scenery stops changing. And for the moment, we'll let him stay that way. After all, you and I both know that things are about to change rather drastically. I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise for either of you. But you'll find out--

THEENDISNEVERTHENDISNEVER

you'll find out when it's time-

THEENDISNEVERTHENDISNEVERTHEENDISNEVERTHENDISNEVER

to play the game-

THEENDISNEVERTHENDISNEVERTHEENDISNEVERTHENDISNEVERTHEENDISNEVERTHENDISNEVER

again.

After starting to host at Lostpedia, and a failed tenure at RM, insertnamehere came to The Syndicate in early 2013. He's hosted two games, Twin Peaks Mafia (That one with the two threads) and Sherlock Mafia. (That one where the host told the players to fuck off) Both have been received with mixed reception. But, it cannot be argued that he hosts games like no other. In an INH game, figuring out what's going on is part of the "fun". The game plays you as much as you play it. His third "masterpiece" The Stanley Parable Mafia has just gone into the sign up phase. As long as you go into an INH game expecting chaos, unconventional rules and formats, and lots of ugly graphics, you'll certainly leave with an "experience".

This one game of his is a part of the long, industrious, incorrectly named Mini-Mafia series.

>:ABOUTTHEGAME
[/size]

The Stanley Parable Mafia is a game about choice. The game focuses on a branching storyline that has up to fourteen endings. Each day, the players will vote on which path they would like the story to take. This will continue until an ending is reached. Different endings have different effects for different players. Some are good for the civilians, some are good for the mafia. Almost all of them eliminate a player in one way or another.

There is no "night" or "day". Then, you may ask, what power does the mafia have if it cannot kill anyone at night? The mafia have the most important and rarest thing is this game. Knowledge. The mafia knows which ways lead to what endings, and which endings do what. Of course, some information is concealed even from them. The mafia wins when all of the civilians have been eliminated. The civilians win once all of the mafia have been eliminated.

A polite request: In order to keep things moving at a brisk pace, and as to not still be playing this game come fall, please cast your votes as fast as possible, within reason of course. I will end the poll when a majority is reached, or the time runs out. Whichever comes first.

After an ending is reached, the paths leading to it will be removed, and the cycle will start again. In this game, the end is never the end.

Congratulations, Player One! You are the man of the hour, the big oh-one, the cream of the crop. All other lesser numbers pale in comparison to your singleness!

Player Two. Two. What a sadly insignificant number. Always trying to catch up, but just falling behind. In a way, Number Two's help prop up the world. Where would we be without the work of people that are just slightly worse than the best? A bit duller, overweight, less attractive, and in a word, depressing. Enjoy the game!

Boy I'm glad I'm 3. Prime, the trinity, the minimum number needed to created a plane. Binah. The Great Sea. The Mother. The transition from force to form. A certain kind of death.

Player Three. Is it possible to have a favorite number? To view something so cold, impersonal, and blase, and decide to assign some kind of a personality to it? And even then, to select one number in particular as more identifiable than the rest? That's the kind of thing that Humans excel at. Right, if I had to somehow give a number personal significance to myself above all others, that lucky number would be three.

Player Three, you need to remember that greatness is thrust upon such little amounts of people. You need to seize this opportunity, Player Three! To truly rise to the occasion! To live up to the nearly impossible standards set by the pure unadulterated promise of the number three.

Player Four. The middle of the road. The center of the pack. A reminder that all of this, everything, will soon come to a screeching halt. Isn't that a comforting notion?

Player Five. A man of few words or letters, I see. Is this because you have little to say, or is that all you can muster up as far as conversation goes? Whatever the case, we're glad to have you on board.

Player Six. In some cultures, the number six represents evil, and the theological incorporeal being known as "Satan". That's quite a shame, I've always had a bit of a fondness for the number. It's the number three times two. I don't see any scenario in which the number six is not amazing.

Player Seven. Seven is known as a "lucky number". It always struck me as a bit arrogant. "Look at me, I'm number seven! Aren't I so goddamn lucky?" The number seven seemingly exists for people to not bet on in gambling.

Player Eight. Sweet finality. It has been simply a pleasure spending this time with you, and I look forward to perhaps (Though probably not) spending more time with you in the future. Goodbye's have always been a bit hard for me, so I'll dispense with the formalities.
