Rule number one: No blasphemy. I’ll not have the Lord’s name taken in vain in my thread. As for the other rules…why, they’re right here:

1. No BTSC (behind the scenes conversation) with anyone unless you have explicit permission from the Host.
2. No editing or deleting of posts.
3. No role outing of yourself or anyone else.
4. No double-targeting (targeting the same individual with a Night power twice in a row).
5. Be respectful to other participants. If you have an issue, please contact the Mod, spacedaisy.
6. Dead players should not post on-topic and should be in dead red. There is a "dead" button when posting for this function.
7. Off-topic posts should be in off-topic green. There is an "OT" button when posting for this function.
8. Posts from non-players should be in non-player blue. There is a "np" button when posting for this function.
9. The Host color is Shawshank gray. Please refrain from using this color.
10. No revealing the contents of private messages from the Host into the thread.

Move out of the cage. Pick up your clothes and Bible.

Prologue
I’m guilty. I don’t joke about that like most of the others do.

On the outside world I was Biggs. Tallest one in my crew.

In here, I’m Chauncey Blackmon. When you wear a number, it’s good to hear the name your mama gave you. Besides, I’m too old for bullshit nicknames. And I ain’t the biggest one around anymore, no sir.

I came to Shawshank in aught nine. If I feel like it, I’ll tell you why, but right now, I’ve got other stuff to say.

You see, we got some new fish. Whole busload of them. Nineteen I counted. And immediately I said to my pal Stems that this don’t smell right. No sir, not at all. Some of the faces look a little too familiar. Some are genuinely new- scared as shit and rightfully so. But maybe I’m no judge of character.

Regardless, we still like to go fishing. We like to bet on who will cry out first. I’m told the winners get some smokes this time around. So who’s it gonna be?

It is now the Prologue. You have 48 hours to vote.

Asymmetry in art is dynamic. It creates visual conflict and directs the eye to move across the whole with a great sweeping motion. It is drama. It is pathos. It is life. Symmetry is stationary, immobile, stagnant. It is death.

Now I realize this is likely the case, but if I'm the only one who read the poll question with his mind immediately thinking of Bioshock

then I will be sad.

Drinking? Profusely?

I'm home early because of reasons but I'm probably gonna leave my vote til morning. I see a bunch of names of people I love and it'd be too hard to choose between any of them so I'll let it be Sober Tom's problem.

I don't know what all they might be up to, but I have to say I am happy to be at home having a restful evening. My week has been crazy busy with a four-tiered wedding cake, a grooms cake, and a two-tiered Christmas cake (which caused trips to Walmart three nights in a row) on top of all my normal duties of teaching, cleaning, laundry, and caring for three wild youngins. Whew! I'm spent!

Could be. My thinking is that Fat Ass gets beaten to death as a result of his crying, so while the question is who will cry (and that's what the bet is about when they come into the prison) as an actual way of handing out prizes in a game, going with the person who is killed first seems like the easiest way to make it a tie in.

Alternatively, it could just be who posted first, so I may vote MR since if that logic is wrong he could still wind up being the player we lynch first and I might as well hedge, but I don't really think it will turn out to be that. Voting for a no-show who I could also see voting for in the first lynch (and can we not have this argument, that would be great) is what I'm leaning towards if we near the end of the cycle and anyone hasn't shown up.

So ya... probably MR unless there's a no show.

Also: @Epig: is the lack of posted win conditions intentional? I assume The Inmates = civs, Shawshank = baddie team 1, Sisters = baddie team 2, and they do all actually need the rest dead to win. But since that isn't stated, I could see the possibility of different combinations winning together. Won't even bother asking about what appear to be indies, since that seems like it would be a convoluted mess depending on the answer to the rest.

It doesn't say so, but do powers pass down? Specifically Red's (seems like the civs would become pretty weak without him, since I'm assuming he'll essentially be handing out night powers like protects, RBs, etc) and NKs (I expect they do, but it seems to me it's been a trend to state how the pass down works in roles lately, and that isn't included).

Can BTSC players have teammates send in PMs for them, and if so, how does the RB work? Player A has the kill, Player B wants to send in the PM, is that allowed, and if Player B is allowed to send it in, does a RB prevent the kill if used on Player A or Player B?

Think that's all I've got.

I don't know exactly what "crying out" means in the context of this game, but my bet is that no one "wins" the poll by taking the most votes. Rather, whoever votes for the person who "cries out" will be rewarded, so a tie doesn't matter at all. A more spread out vote just increases the chances that someone will win.

Ya, exactly. It's a bet... although that makes me wonder if a second vote (and all after) on someone who already has a vote would get everyone after the first voter a prize if the person who took the votes is the person who cries out first. Either that or it would be divided by however many voters there were and got it right (in terms of keeping the bet idea going at least, could just be a small prize for everyone who winds up voting right, regardless of how many votes).

Certain objectives have been added beneath the list of roles.

Red's ability is not transferred.

I accept (and prefer) group PMs. Blocks affect the person performing the action, not the person who sent in the PM.
