I did make a mistake. I meant to post this thread in the basement as the game isn't finished. That said  more incentive to finish the game quickly lol.

Has there ever been a game where everyone gets BTSC?

That's the concept for this game. You don't know anyone's alignment, but you have the ability to start a conversation with one person of you choice every night. Maybe a special contest item allows players to create group chats, but otherwise their would be very few or no power roles As I'd expect adding PRs would create info that could screw with the balance of this kinda of BTSC focused game. I also intend to incorporate away messages/status somehow, but otherwise, I intend for this to be a VERY vanilla game.

10-15 players max

(this also my first game!!! input, specifically about balancing this kind of game, would be super helpful!)

I don't know if there has. We've certainly had games where BTSC was a common theme, like map games, but I can't recall a game where BTSC was guaranteed.

That said, I do think the BTSC and extra chances of communication provides a huuuuge benefit for town, so the ratio of alignments would need to be catered toward that.

A fun concept I thought of on this subject. Allow a mafia role or 3P role to "invade" another chatroom each night. Or maybe not at night, that might make things obvious, but allow them to read the transcipt discussed in that room after the night ends.

hmm. how about this:
3p has access to all transcripts and soup kill or something to that effect, mafia can pick to have access to any person's transcript every night.

Where exactly does the benefit of BTSC come from here? Like assuming there's minimum roles/confirmable information. I really like the idea of a FBI role that looks through messages for certain kinds of pro-town BTSC interactions, but I don't know what those really are.

Maybe if 3p guess correctly who the most messaged civ was on a given night, they die?

In private channels, especially ones where the participants know who the other are, you get the chance to read another player in a context outside the game. As a civilian hunting for mafia, I feel they have more incentive to utilize btsc to privately hunt for mafia, whereas it adds another layer of "faking it" that mafia have to deal with. It's easier to fake reads in a crowd of 15 players, but harder in a 1on1 context. Obviously a good mafia player can use it to their advantage, I just think it would overall add a benefit town.

That's my belief, but I'm open to counter-arguments.

A soupkill, I think that would be useful if there are roles to be concerned about, but in a mountainous game is probably moot.

Also, I like that the FBI's getting involved. :haha:

huh that's interesting. I feel like it'd be much easier to lie to a person than to lie to a group. The hope is moments like "nah nah nah, I talk to them and they are civvie, they promised!!" would benefit mafia, but i'm really not sure.

Also mountainous game? you mean like a big game?

You can't copy paste transcripts btw, that would be mean.
