It doesn't feel mechanically correct to chop someone who 100% isn't Mafia

Chop is outed and his role is 100 percent known. There’s no way he’s not the messenger, and thus there’s no way he’s not vanilla. Alison is locked into scum siding by mechanics, and potentially has a vig shot left to be pointing at town (and a vest which is relevant but minor). Killing Alison does not change the number of chops that town has — Sean said it would have but an F5 with Alison is still just an F5. If town chops incorrectly, provided Alison has fulfilled her win con the game is over on the spot. It’s always correct to deprive scum of their more valuable potential asset — especially while Alison having a shot left would make sense and would actually lower the number of Poe shots left

Leaving Alison alive does force the mafia team to be a little more particular about their kills but only slightly — they have to kill kyle/epi anyways and that’s enough

Also CHop is self voting and has directed the slaver to take an action in thread so if that action is possible the in thread coordination ruins any possibility of error on the side of the wolf team

The only argument for leaving Alison alive is you want to make a Faustian bargain with her in like F9 to get her to temporarily townside if she’s two off her win con. This is incredibly risky

Thanks @Made for joining the game under extremely difficult conditions and fighting your ass off. You did my game honor.

Thanks @sprityo for stepping in and being proactive with my prods. You shot a bad guy in the arse!

Thanks @Kylemii for stepping in early and ensuring my game could have a Chosen One. :srsnod:

Thanks @Syn for taking on the game later and giving it a strong effort while you could.

Thanks @Seanzie for taking on the game latest (I was going to start modkilling after that phase). You played hard and you played well. At least for content in the game thread, you were among the most critical town voices while you were in the game. You told me you’d try your best, and you did better than that.

Alison was very unlikely to still have a kill in her pocket that late in the game when she’d already been outed for most of it.

I don’t think that was a wise elimination. It did help Arroyo at least — they were the last town faction to cover their non-Enclave win conditions.

Anyway long story short on falcon and Alison:

falcon was not allowed to claim his role or information from it. I should have given him a fake claim or just scrapped that restriction. It left him in an unfair no-win situation when Grogu and the mafia team (who had role copped him) kinda exploited things. When folks started demanding falcon claim, eventually the Alison information was forced out of him. It was unfair to him and to town who couldn’t know. So I killed him to allow town to chop someone else (and the role had technically been violated).

Alison was thus outed illegally. When she died I decided they’d both be honorary winners.

It was a rough situation. I tried not to exploit it but there’s no way to really get around it. It’s 100 percent reasonable to force a claim from falcon and then he can’t do anything.
I had a role like this (1 person who can’t claim) in philo mafia, the person with that role also got mod killed.

Overall I’m extremely pleased with how the game went. Despite all of my attempts to project directions the game could go, I wasn’t super confident that it’d meet the standard of balance I aspire to. Go figure it goes to final three.

Both teams had great moments. Mafia dominated early. Town had an incredible Night 5 to turn the tide. Poor Vault City. Enclave and town also both made many mistakes. That imperfection was endearing and true to the Fallout spirit — nothing ever comes easy in the wasteland.

True, but they were both yeeted for it.

Chop was finally boxed into a corner when his role was proved wrong.

Omega was also yeeted for claiming an investigative role but not visiting anyone.
Protip: Hint several roles but never claim no matter your alignment.

Gods, I saw your Fresh Prince post, and I wish so much that that I made a point to be ready for this, so I'd have had time to react. I didn't think to like set an alarm or anything to get back to the thread for EoD, but I realized it was like 2 minutes before, and went in, saw you post, and I feel so damn stupid, because I wish so much I would have been sitting there waiting to see it, if I would have been a little more dedicated that day, I would have countered you...

But, alas, your play worked, and so good job. I am so pissed that I let "it isn't EoD" or whatever it was, your excuse for not having a vote on LC, slide. Good job.

Agreed. Hardclaim it was not mechanically correct to yeet Alison there. The only reason to think it might be correct is if you thought Alison had a shot left, but especially after her not shooting the night after she was outed, that possibility diminishes a lot.

She wasn't going to heavily wolf-side, because that would get her yeeted. She also wasn't going to town-side, but that wasn't the point... She was literally TRUE independent at the point she was outed, and independents need to be watched, but are never as good of a yeet choice as a wolf, and if they are full-outed, often aren't as good of a yeet choice as consensus PoE since you gain no info from their flip.

Also thanks JJJ, I am super happy I was able to participate in this game. I never played Fallout 2, but I played Fallout 1 when I was way too young, and it definitely was a defining game for me, and I want to play Fallout 2 now (I've played 1, 3, NV and 4), and I feel like you really did a great job of encapsulating the spirit of Fallout in a mafia game. I wanted to sign up like normal, but when the game started I think I was already overwhelmed, so I was kind of ecstatic to get the rep-in message!

Amazing game, and I do appreciate your attention to balance.
