I agree with this statement in it's totallity. Moff really HAD BETTER BE GOING SOMEWHERE with all this episodes feeling like rip-offs of better episodes. As it is, Capaldi is amazing. I can't wait to see what *he* does next.

I agree with this as well. The right TV shows, like the right movies, makes all the difference.

Indeed, then we watched from "Rose" onward like normal.

Eccleston has some good stuff, but man does it get so much better after that.

I can't not sign up for this, even though I didn't sign up for Felt Mafia because of real life and busyness and teaching and holy shit obligations. But I don't care. I will be in this. I must be in this. It will be FANTASTIC :D

I haven't even watched anything from this season yet, and I was so excited about Peter Capaldi. I've been a bad Whovian :( But I will remedy this, and soon.

It is my very studied and completely true feelings that there is no such thing as a bad Whovian.

BDH and I often let many shows build up in our que so we can bing watch them. If that's the way you roll with Dr Who - then good on your patience. I'm pretty sure my hubby would like to do the same thing if he didnt have to listen to me go "IT'S DR WHO NIGHT. DO WE HAVE DR WHO YET??? HOW BOUT NOW??? NOW??? OK - HOW BOUT NOW????"

and blooper? YOU will be FANTASTIC! ;)

I will say that I watched Into the Dalek tonight, and I REALLY like where Capaldi is going with the role. In fact, he's impressed me so much in two episodes that it really does make Smith's Doctor look that much more terrible. #controversy

But seriously though, while Matt Smith got handed some pretty awful scripts, I got really tired of his "sunshine and butterflies and rainbows" carefree attitude at times. His last season helped redeem a lot of that for me though, because it was not only his best season, but one of the best seasons in the history of the show.

Linki: I started getting into Doctor Who about a month before Smith's last season started. I caught up quickly enough that his last season ended right as I started it (not counting the 50th and his last Christmas special there obviously). So I binge-watched the hell out of it.

I disagree with the bolded parts. I think Smith was stronger at the beginning than he was at the end. Vincent and The Doctor is hands down one of my MOST favorite episodes.

I LOVE Capaldi.I hope I love where they are going with him. I remain unsure. I keep hoping that this whole nod to Rome and Volcanos will play a part not only in explaining how a dr would look like someone he met in the past but also his new insistnace of "why did I pick this face?" This seems completely new to dr who - that he could pick a face.

I'll put myself down as a potential replacement. If I'm needed during September I'll jump in and do my best, after the 27th (when I move back to uni) if you're desperate give me a shout and I'll evaluate the situation to see if I can help.

Fair enough. I know most fans have much different opinions of Smith than I do. But I'm sticking with my guns. I do agree that Vincent and the Doctor is one of the best episodes Smith had. I just felt like early on, for every gem he had, there were 2 or 3 clunkers to go along with it.

If Moffat writes that in as him picking a face, I'm going to fly over to Britain and slap the shit out of him. We all know that if the Doctor could pick a face, he'd become a ginger. :P

Davison is severely underrated.

As for favorite Classic Doctor, I'd probably go with 5 as well. He had possibly the best companions out of all of them.

As long as it doesn't start this weekend, I could probably consider joining. I'm still in NY visiting family for at least another month but I can probably check in some while people are working.
(I haven't had a chance to read the roles and game stuff yet, so if this game has a lot of tricky mechanics or is a sock poppet game nvm I'm not in :p )

It's where everyone wears socks on their hands and we record ourselves making silly voices in character as the socks then post those videos and that's how you play.

OR it might be a kind of game where everyone uses anonymous accounts as opposed to their own. X-Men and American Gods are the first two that come to mind for me from this site. LOST Revolution years ago on RM used them as well and was probably the most popular sock puppet game IMO.

Everyone is given a fake account to post under. I've played several like this (and hosted one) but there is generally a lot going on in addition to the fake accounts and I just can't handle it and it isn't fun for me. No offense to those games, I just don't think my style lends itself to that type of game :p (Pretty sure I've gotten lynched Day 1 or at least got under massive suspicion early on in every one I've played)

I agree, I find a lot of the enjoyment in Mafia interacting with the other players. When everyone is trying to hide their identity, it drains the fun for me.

Now see, I love sockpuppet games. But i am a person who takes suspicion for trivia, basically. SO the appeal of hiding, of not being SVS, is very strong for me. I think anyone with a strong play style likes the anonymity thing from time to time.
