The exact English translation of ""Blanco White"" is ""White White"". Are you trolling? I don't love it. It's a catfit yes, but it's got a bit of a groomed Caribbean vibe that I'm having trouble enjoying.

Skillet - Rebirthing
Ah yes, romantic love song. This reminds me of like Finger Eleven, but they decided to hire Arjen Lucassen for soundscaping. It actually does make it slightly better. I think the character is singing about metaphorically suffocating, dying, then ""rebirthing"" and reedeming themself. Or something. ""Tell me when this fear will end.""

Valve Studio Orchestra - MEDIC! (Team Fortress 2)
I've never played this game, although I have watched the character bios, I assume there's a medic who can rezz you if you die. The song doesn't really match that vibe. It's still fun. It has a certain goofiness to it that matches the game and it's characters. The harp at the end is a nice touch.

Matthew J. Rolin - Tracks
Catfit? Not really. The album is called ""Passing"", which could be interpreted as someone passing from one phase to another, whether it be life, death, birth, or another significant moment. But I do like it. I can certainly close my eyes and imagine a fantastical moment of transcendence in someone's life. I can also picture a sunrise, which is often a symbol of rebirth, as the dark night eases into a new brighter day.

GWAR - Zombies, March!
Does it count as coming back to life if the beings in question are undead? Eh, close enough. I'm not a huge fan of the singing goblins. The guitar tone has some excellent moments. Did they intentionally lift the opening verse to Karn Evil 9 by ELP?

Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros - Redemption Song
This is a Bob Marley cover. That makes sense because the lyrics didn't seem very Joe Strummery. This song was covered by Strummer and Johnny Cash together in 2002, but was released later in 2003 after both of them had died, which for me made it a little sobering to listen to. I'm sure Strummer coulda pulled off ""screaming Icelandic man"" if he wanted to.

@spf someone finally made me listen to mewithoutyou. This song rules!! I wasn't sure if I'd like it at first, but the we get some distor partway through the song, and the narration style changes dramatically. There's some excellent wordplay. I'll give an extra .1 points for singing about a walrus. This isn't quite a catfit is the only downside. Just marginally.

Machinae Supremacy - Reanimator (March of the Undead III)
The soundscape on this song is pretty and eerie at the same time. Very ghostly. I can kinda visualize some sort of ascension happening. I did not expect it to transition into power metal. I can't believe they invited Gerard Way to sing the final verse. Overall, weird mashup of sounds/ideas that worked kinda well. Not only did they sing about the undead, but they sang about dying and then coming back ""after judgement day"".

Evanescence - Bring Me to Life
I can't believe a video with 42 million views has the wrong song title. The story behind this song checks out, Amy Lee was going through a rough period emotionally, and this is written as a request to her partner at the time to ""wake me up inside"". Coming back to life (metaphorically) and second chances abound. This song was a radio staple. It deserved it. Gorgeous vocals, and the nu metal isn't toooo cringe.

Depeche Mode - Clean
This song is fan-freaking-tastic. The theme is obvious here both in the name and in the lyrics. This song as about taking the best shower of our life. Ok, but the music video is kind of amusing because it implies that the character is replacing one addiction (drugs) with another addiction (sex). The lyrics could also imply that it's about the character turning to religion ""I don't claim to know where my holiness goes"", but either way, solid catfit. One of these days, I'll figure out the actual meaning. Excellent song. Gg.
