Scum can get genuinely upset at a partners post or treatment of them in thread. It’s maybe the easiest way to distance imo.
Ok, I don't know if I've ever seen that - real anger instead of fake anger - but it would certainly be a good distancing technique.

Are you seeing both Elephant and vanity as scum right now (I know your vote is on Elephant) or have you not seen enough yet to have that opinion? I'm really struggling with them, I exited the last day phase with a town lean on both.
There's an example of this in G8 of MU Champs. One of mine and Nanook's partners, IBA, got upset with Nanook at one point on D3, and started arguing with him in the thread. It convinced a lot of the players that they weren't partners.

Vanity is a scum lean from what I’ve seen of them, elephant I don’t really have a read on but I’m sheeping nutes.

My point is more that it’s possible than that I think it’s necessarily the case here.

For me it's more that Elephant started up sowing doubt on vanity who was previously on most people's town lists iirc, and if they were teammates I don't know that he'd deliberately start a case on a partner who looked townie -- BUT maybe that's what he wants me to think lol.

I decided to take a skim over Vanity's ISO since it's been a while since I've done so.

It's interesting that he was being accused of trying too hard very early D1 and now he is saying he isn't trying to play too hard. It almost seems like a readjustment to seem less scummy?

Vanity Reads
Like most of his D0 but most of that isn't really alignment indicative so

D1
SO these are 6 minutes apart and he states his never lynch then mentions wanting to pick them apart which at the time is pretty close to EoD and I see this as a waste of time at that specific time but doesn't sound like it in the moment leaving a free disappearing act. He doesn't leave immediatly but lowers time spent in thread after this.

MacDougall wrote: Mon Oct 28, 2019 10:05 pm Welcome to The Great Team Building Exercise of Inception Mafia

So firstly I'm not gonna force anyone to do this but it sounds like a fun idea so I'm gonna do it and if you like the idea then do it as well.

So, I just put the playerlist through random.org. I have created five random groups of six players. Your goal is to communicate only with the players inside of your group for ONE hour. Given where we're at with timezones I think coordinating it across all the players is probably impossible so make that hour whichever hour that you want. Hell if you want to just spend the rest of the day focused on these five players that's fine. Hell even if you just want to give them a cursory look to have some players to hone in on making reads on you can do that too. Basically it's just going to force people to look directly at a smaller set of players. This should help you read these people, perhaps find some townies to work with, hell maybe you'll make some friends even I don't fucking know.

Here are the lists;

Group 1 -
@Benson
@TonyStarkPrime
@Dragomir
@Quin
@Rej
@Lady LambdaDelta

Group 2 -

@MacDougall
@iaafr
@Dom
@Creature
@Long Con
@Trustworthy Liberal

Group 3 -

@112
@NANOOKTHEGREATANDFEARSOME
@nutella
@Epignosis
@DFaraday
@novaselinenever

Group 4 -

@Jackofhearts2005
@Spiny Creature
@sprityo
@Pawn Lelouch
@vanity.
@Hyena

Group 5 -

@Elephant
@juliets
@Michelle
@Evenstar
@Master Radishes
@Texas Cloverleaf

Knock yourselves out.
The rest makes me dislike Vanity but this here makes me consider Epi was the other wolf wagon D1 if vanity is wolf or at least is more likely to have been

This gets it's own post cause of length

Vanity's Defense being that each point individually isn't scummy doesn't sit right with me missed this reply yesterday but yes most of the time people arn't caught on a single post of slip its over time which this is Don't agree with all facts against him BUT vanity's defense of this makes it honestly worst in my opinion.

Vanity if you read this i want you to defend yourself cause if your town i feel this push on you if from a wolf making elephant Vanity V/W in quite a few worlds now so the town needs to defend themselves and the wolf needs to be found would like it right the first time rather then waiting.

Elephant wrote: Fri Nov 01, 2019 11:34 am I changed to the computer to do a proper multi-quote ISO. The takeaway:
- Vanity tunnels Juliets from the star, never re-evaluates
- vanity is quite self-conscious on how towny he's being
- vanity thinks Benson subtly shading him as a wolf, @Benson denies
- vanity stalls any initiative to introduce structured conversation
- vanity votes players pushing her: he votes me for suggesting that he could have engaged Jack instead of observing that no group talk was happeneing, and votes Michelle for pushing him over that unmotivated vote
- vanity's reads have very obvious strong player bias
- vanity attempts an in-thread ISO of Michelle
- vanity announces intent to "kill Drago" at -1:45, his reason on the actual vote is "don't want epi lynched"
- vanity establishes a D2 pool of suspects along his old, biased reads
- vanity skips a day
- Subjectively, vanity does not feel like the town!vanity from wildcards 1.

Actually, that's more than I remembered seeing. I'm less happy with this ISo than I am with Trustworthy Liberal's, because I can understand Trusrtworthy Liberal, but I do not understand this.

To be fair, I've not seen your scum game. But I read you in G7 (you died as I subbed in) and watched you in in WC1, and you play this game similarly to how I do. Everything I see from you so far has been so pure, IMO.

How would you describe your wolf range, then?
my wolf range, huh...

while i haven't wolfed on forum before, and this game is another non-turbo village game from me, because randing wolf is impossible for some reason, but i'm the powerwolf type. a lot of people that know me from dm wouldn't give v reads on me this early, because they know i can give compelling thoughts on the game as a wolf.

i'd post around the same as either alignment. if i'm in the thread, i'm posting. that's all there really is to it. if you think i'm pure, cool. i don't think you're a wolf at the moment, so i'm comfortable with this.

Idk if I trust you completely though. But I mostly agree with your do not lynch list at least.
that's fine, i haven't been overtly obvious villager with my spam-y posting at tbe moment but i'm trying when i can

you might've picked up on it, but if hyena and evenstar perceive their town games to be similar, and they're not finding each other, it's making me think something is there. though i understand any given game a disconnect can happen between 2 villas, as i've seen it before elsewhere

eva is definitely more in her chaos-posty archetype too but i don't want to touch her at all

why does pawn have to be right in this instance? and more importantly, why is pawn towny to you? and if pawn is a wolf, what does that mean for iaafr and mac's alignments?
Why are you pushing for associative reads? Isn't this too early into the game?
i'm not the one pushing for associative reads? eva is saying that pawn saying mac and iaafr are town, makes mac and iaafr town. i'm not the one that is making that association, eva is making it. hence why i'm questioning her.
I find this notable, because Evenstar had stated that Pawn would usually be correct in his reads independent of his alignment. MIchelle's question was well justified.

vanity interprets Mac's initiative to require specific times, and then sets a schedule that is hard to match. By contrast, Juliets just set out to working and addressing her group as soon as she was online, because a forum is an asynchronous medium that does not require scheduling a date to get engaged. In comparison, vanity is stalling, and Juliets is not.

The thing about townslipping via innocent flavour-reveal questions... hadn't it previously been discussed in-thread at least once? Like, how much leeway do we give, who's not reading the whole thread, and is that in itself a scummy thing to do? Like, I haven't talked about it yet, maybe I'll bolster my townlook on Day 6 by asking again if we can reveal flavour?

We've literally known since the end of Day 1 that scum have flavourclaims, so I don't really understand why they are being discussed at all, nor why any credence should be lent to appearing innocent of something that's in the Rules and on every player's role card.

Is this a culture thing? Do people get townread for this kind of thing elsewhere? Do scum fake-townslip about flavour?

you just admitted to not really looking like your town self, now this staunch defense of your towniness lol.

But actually I am thinking you'd have responded to the accusations more thoroughly and systematically if you were a caught wolf, idk. The degree of your flailing is hard to evaluate strictly as one alignment or the other.
being my normal villagery self, does not equal me being villagery.

if i was my normal villagery self, i would be way more active and actively searching for wolves. i'm not doing that right now. but i will, lemme just sort through a couple things real quick

juliets You're in the orange section of my rainbow because your busywork data feed of votes, while obviously time-consuming, takes the place of analysis-time. This is easier to do for a wolf than faking real analysis. Also your reaction to vanity's criticism looked fake to me, an overdone bristly reaction to ward away suspicion.

The criticism in question is in the same flavour as mine - vanity called it "lazy" to literally copy Elephant's reads, and while I wouldn't use that word (because you'll slap me :hugs: ), it's easier for scum to identify with someone else's reads than create their own. Again, I understand why you did it, but I certainly wouldn't expect you to play a one-dimensional scum game, so I give these pings credibility.

Thanks for responding -

I did the votes because I was trying to get to an answer to a question. That's just how I am - I'm known at work for that very behavior but I realize that's behavior you have no knowledge of. As an added benefit it helped me to see what was really going on at EOD with what appeared to me to be random voting. Others thanked me for doing it.

My reaction to vanity was not fake, far from it but I don't think there is any way to convince you of that so I won't try. When my turn comes to flip however I want you to remember that you saw genuine emotion from me in that moment. No hard feelings here.

I did not "copy" Elephants reads. Some of the things he said turned my head on vanity. When Benson asked me what caused me to flip on vanity I thought his question was "what did you find in that case that affected your read" because obviously I flipped because of some things Elephant pointed out. So, to answer the question I listed the things that hit me from Elephant's analysis. That's all I did - I did not select and copy Elephants case. I went line by line through it and picked the specific things that hit me. I don't see how this is any different from another player agreeing with a case that someone else made - it happens all the time.

Yes, I am quite anxious to see a response from vanity as well but I'm pretty sure he said earlier today he would not be around much. I do hope he comes on before I go to bed as I am not going to have much time tomorrow to look at people.
