Re: Kudos To You!!
I just got a 3% raise on my yearly salary. It's not a OMG ASSTON of money, but raises at my level of employment are rare as I have a job that get's raises by making a bonus check. This is every bit "You're doing great, we want to keep you happy because we want to get you ready for other things."
Also - with my raise, my boss told me more things I shouldn't know about my fellow GM's. Specifically people who are being fired and WHO he wants to put in their place. Because everything has to go through channels - I told him - "tell those kids to get ahold of me. I just did the interview a year ago - what everyone else is looking for is fresh in my head. I can help them with the paperwork they need to do. I will prep them and it's one less thing you have to worry about."
It was pointed out to me that maybe I'm being cut into the things I shouldn't know about because I'm being groomed for the job. I agree with that. And will add that I'm being cut into the info because also I've proven I'm on team my area. Because I've been told things before I don't talk about. And because I've made it known I don't want to stay where I am. I want to move up - I want to do better.
TBH - my boss would be a fool to put anyone else where I'm sitting in the role I'm doing.
6 years ago, when I was alone and living in Ohio - I didn't think my life would be anything more than the day to day things I did. Things that in hindsite I learned were noticed and appreciated but for whatever reason both in my own head and in the heads of the hometown - just weren't recognized. In a small town, you have your role - you play it - and YOU learn it early and YOU hold you back more than anyone. 6 years ago, I NEVER thought I'd be running basicly my own business. I'd have laughed in your face if you told me I was aspiring to learn how to run more than one business at a time.
It's amazing what the love of a good man, (and yes he is MY big damn hero ),a change of sceenary, long talks with a HR rep who is a freind and helps you learn how to evaluate yourself fairly and several well placed kicks in the ass from SVS can do for a gal!

Re: Kudos To You!!
Well, as some of you may or may not know, I have been renting from one of my brothers for several years, then he had to sell his house due to divorce. So having to worry about having to move to probably a more affordable area further from my job, keeping the house perfect for real estate, etc., has been a huge stress on me. So the house finally just sold, but the new owners want to keep me at a VERY reasonable rent (all that housekeeping paid off) for the area I live. My brother will get enough out of it that even after splitting it with the evil witch ex wife, he can afford to get a decent condo also not far from HIS job. So I am enjoying house hunting for him since *I* don't have to move
So yay for all that being over, and for it resolving well in the end

I know, right? The past year and a half while the house was on sale, I tried super hard to always have my apartment be perfect for buyers because it was for my brother, but it was hard too cause him getting the closure he needed by selling the house meant I would have to move and apartments are even more expensive in New York than Finaldn. Plus dog & cat plus I work in a ritzy town.
So yeah, everyone won,and that never happens
Thanks all

Golden, a "section" is a single class. There is 8 in the school day, and of those 8-- I will teach 5 classes of geometry and have 3 split between planning and "duties" like study hall or lunch.

I think calling them sections sounds more professional and fancy-like.
I don't understand being passionate about Geometry, but I respect you for it! I think such subjects (STEM) really need more instructors who are passionate about them. It's how you reach hearts, and encourage young minds to go for it!

It's increasingly difficult to ask a teenager to buy-in to a class where the concepts seem so abstract and unapplicable to their everyday life. I mean, I know most students will not remember most of the material in years to come. But it's the skills that I hope they retain (problem solving, planning, justifying their answers).

Re: Kudos To You!!
I think there's a slight difference between the meanings of "period" and "section" but I'm not quite sure how to articulate it. It's like, "period" is the chunk of time on your schedule, so it's when you have a certain class/section, while "section" is the division of that particular class into different groups of students for each period. So like, students have each class in a different period, and are each in a particular section of each class, while teachers of one subject teach multiple sections of the same class. If that made any sense.
