No, there is also town BTS in this game. But having read his ISO and compared it to LGM, I think civ BTS Is less likely.

OK, I just realized this poll doesn't end at 9, it ends at 7:30, about 3 hours.

I read back in LGM, and while Falcon had a fair bit of OT/banter type posts, his serious seemed more serious than it does here. While I found his Wilgy situation to be hard to understand, I found his position re Marmot to be more of an issue. It's a joke, it's a joke, maybe it's not a joke. Maybe it's a pressure vote. And then he dropped it before Marmot even came back.

Things last game started way faster and I don't know how to really get things rolling.

Last game Golden pulled in town core fast plus we had a tunnel to discuss (Sean vs me) very early. Here we had slot of baked goods and warm fuzzy fluff. Fluffy games are warm and cheery, but can be slow starters until someone is actually eliminated.

I think they're both town. Falcon feels the same as last game, not on topic until something interesting happens to him, then focusing up. Wilgy is just INCREDIBLY on topic. Most of his fluff posts are his ongoing hi train with Marmot. Out of these two, I say Falcon is more likely to be bad because Falcon's defense of 'You shouldn't read my slot this way' is weird. Your slot is read different each game because you have a different role each game, right? Or am I misinterpreting 'slot'.

Yeah, I agree, how does someone expect someone else to know that and react that strongly to it? I mean, I'm taking some flak, but that's part of the game. I never 'got' the suspish of him last game, and was reading him the same, but that element wasn't there.

I am going to go back and reread Falcon. If I have time, I might reread his LGM to contrast it.

Mostly, I would agree with that; I am going with the "new norm" and calling townreads, but lord, it's not easy for me. And I took some flak in Game 1 because I didn't like doing it.

If you were bad, I doubt you would have come in here all serious when people expect you not to. And I thought falcon legit looked upset by it. When he sussed me in LGM, he looked not unlike he looks here. I tend to think stuff like this on Day One tends civ/civ more often than not. Because I also don't see why you'd expect him specifically to be hunting when pretty much no one was, and why he was so sure you could not possibly misread him.

So I'm trying to sort it, becasue I can see it both ways.

tbh I don't really care about previous games unless they have a direct impact on how someone is reading someone else and/or has meta that would make reading someone easier

There's a lot of meta reading here, plus we have two groups melding right now, older players who used to play here years ago and drifted away (like me) but came back for the Anniversary Games and stuck around, and newer players who have evolved the game style over the last several years to a different approach. So alot of us don't really know each other, or each others games, all that much better than you do, but some of us know each other super well.

But new eyes, new insights, are always good.

Well, as others have said, it's been the fluffiest of fluffy threads so far. But I know I have been being quiet, for reasons besides the fluff, although that contributes.

On Day Zero, as soon as the thread opened Rondo was in here posting. Falcon came in a minute later, then over the next 15 minutes or so, me, Kate and Quin came in. There was chatting about the tea poll, bitching about the PG-13 warning yada yada yada.

Rondo proclaimed a bit later that me, Kate and Quin were the bad team,

Re your list, I haven't seen anything to think Splints or Roxy is bad, but nothing to say they're sure town either. Same for Kate. In LGM, I read Kate right, but otherwise was pretty much wrong about most of my friends (I thought Mata was bad early, but I backed off, so that doesn't count imo). Kate is easier to read with Golden in the game (and I recall this going back 10 and more years ago, to other sites). They seem to have an inherent understanding of each other, and I tend to town read them both via the light they reflect off of each other, if that makes sense. She's a little cagier without that. Even in Game 1, where he was bad, he did a really good job of approximating that. So she's a harder read for me without him in thread. And she called me "Little Lady" which counts for hilarity points.

Dennis also seems less engaged than last game, but that day one towncore feel isn't here that was in his first game. He was lucky, I think, to have his first game rand civ into a game like that.

I also think Lucy is town, and to extra annoy her, she's the only person close to town lock for me.

I haven't seen Neons early game. She IS different to LGM, but like Rondo, she subbed in and when you sub in you want to make a civvie splash coming in the door.

You voted for Quin, but he's not on your list. I tend to read him as bad, why did you vote for him.

I am trying to sort the falcon/Wilgy thing. Why does falcon think that after a 48 hour fluff-fest someone should be assured of his affiliation? I'm not 100% sure I understand either side of that 1/1 with him and Wilgy. He seems legit upset about it, and I'm not sure why. I think he plays a fairly blendy civ game on short acquaintance, and he took a lot of suspish for it last game. But Wilgys reasons for suspecting him seem a bit forced to me, although I would imagine a bad Wilgy would just lick people and not bother to list suspects at all.

The lack of engagement says more to me than the lack of agenda.

I think town has the same basic agenda, although maybe different approaches to it. I think baddies have more specific agendas, like making someone else look bad, or making player x turn on player y. To me that’s an agenda.

I thought she had an agenda fairly early on there, one strong enough that I picked up on it, although I was wrong about its specifics. She isn’t showing the same focus here, but I could be wrong; as I said I’ve never seen her town game.

But I have never seen her civ game, and I would have to guess that with the poor luck the bad team had in LGM that that wasn’t her typical bad game.

I botched what? And what would that have to do with this read? I spent most of LGM thinking you were bad, and Dennis was civ, both of which were true. Although I did misread Sabi and Soneji quite badly. I don't have a sense of either of you yet here (although as I said to Neon, I got no sense of an agenda from you in this game, either). My point about the convo here was that it did not feel like two people with BTSC. With masons in this game, it is not a statement of suspicion. It just means if it comes up later in the game, I might exclude you from being compatible with each other as teammates.

I don't have many thoughts. I think Lucy is town... so like can't wait for round 2 of Neon vs everyone lol

Normally this would be OT, but since the host asked, imma call it topical. Last non fiction book I read that I really enjoyed was "I am Not a Serial Killer" by Dan Wells. It's part of a trilogy and I plan to buy the others after the holidays.

I have no reason to think Lucy is bad, she seems more interested in figuring out the last game to me so far, so I am not really seeing an agenda re this one. Civs generally always have the same agenda, if someone seems to have a different agenda, that's eye catching. But it's early times.

The only things that stuck out to me so far are Rondo calling out the first three people to post besides him and Falcon, but I didn't see his early game in LGM. This kind of thing could be the norm for him so meh. IIRC he pretty much voted for almost everyone every day, or nearly so, in LGM.

i play very intuitively, however i'm also analytic when necessary. i also wasn't lying about my memory, i've never taken notes in a single class, nor do i need spreadsheets to track reads, it's all easily retained. if you analyzed me closely last game what specifically tricked you into not lynching me?

In LGM, I did not see a civ purpose to the strategy I saw, would be a better way of putting it than saying you having a strategy is what caught my eye.

Having the strategy wasn’t what csught my eye, it was the perceived purpose of said strategy. If that makes sense.

No, any decent player does so. And you seem to be a good one. Not everyone can meld tactics snd strategy with chaos and you seem able to do that.

I’m good at tactics and chaos, but only iffy at strategy myself. I tend to play intuitively; I’ve played games with40 and 50 people, and never kept a spreadsheet. I’m a one day at a time person, rather than a big picture person.

Sometimes you can, Last game it seemed you had a strategy early that stuck out to me. It caught my eye so I over analyzed everything you did.

But while discussing the Cold War in the Middle East may not be everyone’s cup of tea, it doesn’t make you bad, either.

I am have two Holiday parties next week, I personally celebrate Yule, and have family plans Friday and Saturday. I won't be around evenings pretty much all next week. And I bet we all have similar schedules.

Will be be having extended phases, or how are do you want to handle that?

I've actually never liked tea either til I tried boba tea especially the frozen ones, which are like a slushy.

My brothers girlfriend introduced me to boba tea, and it sounded weird but I really like it.
