I mean define "seriously." I don't think Mafia is the kind of game you can actually be "the best" at or w/e, and the actual format of Champs is more of a popularity contest. But I mean I take it seriously to the extent that I think a lot of people involved are trying to be serious and earnest in treating mafia as a strategy game, and I don't want to simply dismiss that. Even if it's mostly a pretty silly conceit.

People like wasting time and think that because conversation is how you find wolves, any conversation is therefore good. Just had to deal with this in my champs game.
I mean, champs is that event where they take a bunch of players, put them in set ups that can't be lost, and then pump their tires for being good at town right?
Huh? I didn't check this year but last time I was in it scum won like 11-1 or something
Weird, we played this year's champs set up on my forum, it's hard to see scum having a good win rate given that random.org would win almost every game.
Well mine was the 2019 setup.

I honestly don't think the setup felt imbalanced to me, although it was somewhat swingy, which I think is going to be true any time you randomize role without regard to alignment.

Nah I don't really imagine there's much work you could do that would change my mind honestly, the dayvig interaction with Mac was just too sus. Cute gambit tho.
alternately, and here me out, kza jokes about being vigged, I fake vig, wolfMac decides that's a great way to make me look bad.
Why isn't that a line of thought you're willing to consider?
Mac isn't someone that dodges night actions like ever. So if mac and I are wolves together and pull that kind of scheme it hinges entirely on mac not dying because as soon as he does town would get a 2 for 1. Seems boneheaded to me.
I considered it and found it unlikely, less likely than the coordination being deliberate. The fact that you were both on together at the same time especially and that Mac made an effort to pin you to it himself and indicate it was townie makes me especially inclined to just murder you here.

You're still solving me from a spew perspective here.

MartinGG99 wrote: Thu Jul 01, 2021 1:01 pm Some thoughts after ISO'ing the Luckbox voters:

jackofhearts2005 - Jack is being jack. I don't have strong feelings or thoughts on much of his posts given his typical style is to be laid-back (usually without much depth). Anyways, from what I could dig up, he was voting Luckbox because of this (link). He first voted Falcon, but much later (2-ish hours before EoD) moved on to Luckbox, probably due to vote wagons. I'm concerned though that he doesn't seem to initiate interaction with Falcon even after the storm event (for which Falcon was part of), and even interacted with me about the storm. Its like his vote on Falcon did nothing and he was completely fine with it, which I think is contradictory to what he said about himself and his reads in the past (link). Pending other my reads, I wouldn't mind this guy being the day 2 chop and would prefer it if nothing else.

butterscotchsundae - Butter hardly has any reads with substance in them. One of their reads felt scummy in particular (link), saying Ender is villagery and also they would fake-peek them. But why even mention that if you don't believe in fake-peeking and to also not mention why exactly Ender is villagery? It feels like a statement sprinkled in there specifically for seemingly towny tone and nothing else. Overall handling of Luckbox seems mildy okay to me for the limited time they spent here. I can't tell if its towny though given their reported history with Luck. I want to chop this person.

enderwiggin - I don't have enough leftover energy to ISO 300 posts. Will do D2 at some point assuming he doesn't create another 300 posts while I'm at it. watch him be the NK and I get 100 scumreads lol

guillotine - So let me get this one thing straight: Guilo thought Me/Luck/Butter were wolves (this has been rather consistent over the course of D1 to some degree), and has voted all of us at one point or another. I would think interactions between all three of us would have been not-w/w at some point. Especially between Luck/Butter give their public differences on d1. I don't really understand what Guilo is thinking, and honestly after trying to understand vague memes after vague memes with at most a sentence or two in them, I kinda want to reserve judgment for a day. Also saves me from a headache.

IBA - After reading full context of the interactions with Mac, I think this happened naturally enough for it to not be w/w with Mac. However, with this interaction by itself I wouldn't be surprised if this could be w/v given this involved strictly out-of-game and pre-game stuff so I'm not viewing it as towny for either. With the stuff on Luckbox, I'm inclined to see it as likely genuine. It was a simple TMI suspicion, but what sticks out to me is that this sort of attitude to luck is maintained (and echoed at least once later) while also stating once or twice as to whether Luck had a towny response (link). The whole handling of Luck feels a bit awkward (is that the right word?) and too rough for a wolf to simply fabricate for day 1 where wolves are generally under the least pressure. It just would be unnecessary to do. I don't think IBA is scum here.
Honestly this is just pure laziness, and I'm kind of insulted.

There's no reason at all. When Kza flipped last night I was like "well kza was an obvious villager" and people were like-- "lol you're a wolf". And because I think there are wolves voting me in Butters, and potentially IBA and Guillotine
Also like, scum do not need to generate mislynches, that's never really an issue, especially day 1. Scum are far more likely to put effort into pocketing.

Although "people voting me must be scum" is a good look in fairness. It's bad but also a pretty common townie response emotionally.

I don't actually think he is based on post count alone, but if he were a wolf I wouldn't be completely flabbergasted.
"How are you not a wolf" presumes he's not a wolf, that's how that phrasing is used idiomatically. If I say, "How are you like this" I am taking it as a premise that you are like this and opening the floor only to a conversation about how you being like this came about, not tabling questions about whether or not you are actually like this.

So like people misspeak all the time but it's a bad look on top of every other reason you already seem lynchable

You're going to have to make a stronger claim than "I have powers" for it to be worthwhile for me to move my vote elsewhere.

2+2=5
I am already frustrated, don't make more frustrated.
Sorry I was phone posting in one hand while yelling at my kids.

I don't particularly vibe your post here. Like generally it feels bullshitty but then the part where you were like "I don't get the move to sean" as justification for why you think there was scum in the event appears to be spewing sean town and falcon mafia? or some combination of the two. It's just on the nose end to end.
I only know i got fucked for this. Someone must have done something otherwise i dont get the shift.
So you are saying that you think that someone made a scummy move, with the agenda of preventing the cop check, by influencing the storm chat to move votes en masse onto Seanzie and off of Falcon. Whomst you believe was the consensus decision at the point you left?

For what you claim to be true, they would have had to know that you were unlikely to return and vote Seanzie. Which means if scum pushed the change of direction then it would make Seanzie town cleared. For them to feel the need to make the move, Falcon has to be mafia.

Justin has been mod killed. According to Martin he initially wanted the solve onto him. What does his solve do for your worldview?

I hope this isn't some fruitless exercise where it's just 6 townies all breathing in each other's farts.
Justin got modkilled, Why??

I was pretty much not there so i cant say for sure. All i know was i wanted to cop falcon and those 3 were okay with copping falcon.

I am also to blame for not being there and expecting them not to change their views but if they really wanted sean copped over falcon it didnt happen till the atleast 2hours or so before the even start. I dont know what justin was doing, if he was town then he played bad and distracted everyone and then it got changed to sean or if he was scum, him and falcon could be teamed and didnt wanna cop each other.
he got mod killed for pasting a transcript of the entire chat, has not flipped yet
Wait what

Like a chat with someone else or a teamchat

Look I appreciate the effort but if this game is already fubar'd let's just reset, ffs it's only day 1

"Well kza was obviously town but the reasons were obvious, I don't have to explain, anyway it's pointless I'll obviously be lynched"

You do not seem to be at all driven by curiosity like

Almost like you just know the state of the game and everyone's alignments already or something
Yeah you're a wolf for just making stuff up
See now this is a townie response. Like, really wrong and bad, but townie.

can you articulate what it was about kza that made you townread them so vociferously?
Pure Kza tone that I first recognized in my first game with kza, when nanook tried to fake peek her.
But it doesn't matter.
Why doesn't it matter? it matters to me right now so it matters. Don't be all defeatist or you'll just get turboed. You owe it to your teammates of whatever persuasion.
I don't have the ability to explain reads on anybody but Butters, and barely even her. If you all want to believe that kza isn't a person I could be confident on then kill me.
I also had KZA firmly in my silent town.

It was more the reaction that felt weird.

Not that I needed much reason to flip you.
Why are you so smug so when you actually haven't done anything this game and your reads seem all over the place?
Why shouldn't I be flipping you?
If you are town and think Ender might be scum you should absolutely be trying to flip them because that's the game

Re: AtLA D1

Yeah I mean Bleach had really cool character designs but the story stunk, and stunk more the later it went. The cool villain design is pretty useless when you have boring invincible heroes where even the most third string tertiary characters aren't allowed to die. Like honestly Bleach is my go-to example for this shit, what was the bad guy:good guy death ratio, like 300:0? Absolute shit storytelling with zero stakes.

Anyway uh I guess mechanics happened
