Wiml wrote: Fri Jun 04, 2021 3:11 pm I think I have a narrative that fits for me now. Gavial comes into the game with a strong desire to tryhard immediately. Under this self pressure they make posts that are probably rushed / half baked like post 18 and the first wall. It reads as a player who is trying to put more effort in at a time they aren't confident to make meaningful content.

But the fact is that they came in wanting to tryhard is obvious and their self-definition of tryharding for this game has involved solving, no matter how confusing I find some of those solving posts, and not agenda pushing. You don't come into this game thinking "I want to powerwolf to the top of my capacity" and post a PoE that contains half of the game, for example. This just seems like a case of trying to do too much solving with too much info, making posts that feel fairly rushed, getting flak for it, getting burned out and mostly dipping. This is a narrative that really only works if Gavial is town.

So I think this is probably just town, I'd like to hear their response to my above post still though.

[VOTE: Unvote] aubergine

I think you overclear people and that doesn’t make you wrong here, but I do think this is really conditional on you assuming they wanted to try hard because they are town. Ime wolves can try hard too, it’s just a matter of whether you think gavial is doing it deceptively or not— I don’t really have a read on them, this is my first time playing with them, so I wouldn’t lean town just for this and it does sound like a constructed narrative.
Yeah, I absolutely do over clear people (or at least overstate my reads on people sometimes to get stronger reactions) but it usually means that people are more likely to find the faults in my reads! And to respond to your Creature post in the same message since this one is taking you a while to post, it's pretty much the same case as this. If it gets to the point where I find most players to be very likely town, I raise the bar (I never order my reads into named categories, just most likely town group, next most likely top group, etc so somebody is always at the bottom if I keep finding reasons to clear more people).

In the case of Gavial, think of it this way:

- It's practically 100% certain that Gavial approached this game with the intention to tryhard.

What does tryharding mean as town and how is that different to tryharding as a wolf? These are my own personal approaches when I want to tryhard that I'm broadly applying here.

- Tryharding as town is solving hard and finding wolves. (Important: Sometimes trying too hard too early with too little evidence results in bad / rushed looking posting or burnout.)
- Tryharding as a wolf consists of one main thing: pushing the wolf agenda and generally in this case I think some sort of attempt to get widely townread would also be applicable.

So we are left with two narratives:

- Gavial is town and tryharding. They are showing the typical behaviour that I listed under the first bullet point.
- Gavial is a wolf and tryharding. They are not attempting to push any real agenda besides maybe a wolf read on Syn that they aren't pushing particularly hard? They dropped off for unknown reasons. They are making posts for the explicit purpose of getting townread then, surely? But if that's the case and these posts are crafted to evict such a response from people then is wolf-Gavial really unaware of how to be perceived this way that they split their reads list into only two categories? They have categories like falcon that are completely IIoA? In this case, they must be aware that the post they're making presumably for the sole reason to look good and get towncred has content that is actually surface level very wolfy and therefore invalidated their entire game approach?

I think that first option fits much easier so tl;dr I think Gavial's approach to this game is towny and that they're likely just town.
I atleast understand your logic more, even if it isn’t the vibes I’m getting. Wiml you’re wonderful and also the most, I kinda hope you are a wolf lol

Re: The Fall of Númenor - Day One

Wiml wrote: Fri Jun 04, 2021 4:45 am Wrt Creature, I think complaining about the low post cap multie times is towny. I can see a wolf complaining about it once or twice but when I'm seeing multiple complaints in the same vein I'm thinking this is a town who feels that their ability to solve has been impeded by the cap. A wolf I feel would care less about the cap at this stage given that it doesn't really impede their ability to push their goals because what wolf agenda are you unable to push because of the postcap at SoD1? But the big insistence on post cap being bad and every post must count makes me thing this is just a town feeling their solving is cramped by the cap.

See, like this feels like over clearing. Why wouldn’t a wolf be able to complain about post cap?

- Votes have to be cast in the thread but not on the poll.
- Tied vote = Sleep.

So if wagons are close please be careful about accidentally causing a tie for this reason (either somebody postcapped mistakenly thinking they can vote silently when they can't or someone not using the poll and vote counts getting muddled).

Ugh, that's even worse, so if we're post-capped, we can't change our vote.

Alright, that's something to play around.
I don’t understand— so voting in the pole is not casting a vote? Is it just [/V ?

And with Esooa (Essooa? Esssoa? Idk I need to check again later), how and who is she pocketing? She's not as aggressive as I've seen from before but that's probably NAI
I'm 99.99% certain that we need flips before we can read her better
it seems to brazen for a wolf to do and for another reason I'd rather not say until later. TWTBAW imo, but maybe someone knows whether you can do that. I commented on it because it's verbatim something I said in the recent game on MU as town, and people were annoyed by it-- I now see why...for reasons.. wiml probably understands..

idk Esooa is being nice to me which feels pockety for her prickly personality. Given I've read her right 1/2 times we've played, I am trying to take more time to read her :thumb:
ignoramus wrote: Thu Jun 03, 2021 10:49 pm What are your reasons for villa-reading me? If it's just that joke post of being tribute that's a big :sus:

stage

meta is bad, stop using it. The reason it's suspect is because Syn naked voted wiml as the first post of the game, someone else joined the wagon, THEN you made your post saying you expect him to clear himself with time and that you wouldn't vote him D1.
Why does it matter to you that you wouldn't chop wiml D1, how is that relevant in the face of what is clearly voting at random to have something to talk about, and if you do think wiml can clear himself do you think people voting for him are town or wolf?
Ok mom, what are you? The werewolf police? I can use meta how and when I choose to. You think I launched some massive defense when I added my only thoughts on a slow thread with little substance to deal with. Am I NOT supposed to talk about the directions I want to go and not go for lunches or are we playing ww and that’s the whole point??

If I had a formed opinion on the alignment of the people voting him, I would have said so, but I didn’t and don’t because like you said it was “obvious RVS” and I don’t read into votes until I know the alignment of someone in the mix. You don’t need to be rude, and just because you feel something is obvious doesn’t mean it is obvious to everyone, I don’t randomly vote, I vote when I have a read  I think my thoughts are relevant but if you don’t, kindly ignore me.
