I think this looks like a sincere salutation between these two. This may or may not be the first time these two have played in a game together since the 2020 Champs finale. If that is the case, excitement and enthusiasm at seeing each other is reasonable. There might be a slight town lean for dya in this in that the greeting appears sincere, and they might have already seen each other behind the scenes if they were in a mafia chat together. But this point barely registers enough to warrant a mention. It is there.

These are strained words. See how hard Dizzy works to convey a sense of enjoyment. There is not enough here for me to offer an opinion as to the source of that strain; whether it is because Dizzy is feeling overwhelmed at being mafia in such a loud thread, or because he doesn't know how to act naturally in such a small interaction with a teammate.

I searched my own name to fill my ego, and you are the only one who mentioned just me in a post before I started posting. And also thank @Marmot for the signing up appreciating that I am playing. I have not played Mafia in a while, but I do remember enjoying both of you two.

One of my weaknesses is playing a 20+ people game, let alone 33 people, though I only counted 32 players showing up in the Discord server, but it feels like an honour to participate in a yearly champ game. If anyone has good advice how to play day 1 in such big game... i wanna play a good town game finally again, and solve and lynch the scummies.

I agree keeping up with a game this huge is hard at first sometimes. I'm a bit out of practice as well but trying to get back into having another good game for once. I'm pretty sure no one ever would have picked me for a scum team because I haven't had a good game in a long time. Hoping to change that though.

Scum pick their own teammates this game? Is this for real?

We may presume that Dizzy is feigning surprise/confusion about this mechanic here. We can make no such assumptions about Belzy. I do question whether Dizzy would choose to latch onto this post if Belzy was his teammate, though. Not impossible, but it's a micro-interaction that seems slightly less likely for some reason.

This exchange was going nowhere until Dizzy blurted out a town read on Belzy. Belzy seems to make reference to something adjacent to suspicion ("you don't come across townly this way"), but I'm unsure what that is in reference to. I do not think there is enough here for me to read Belzy through this exchange, but this relationship is one that I will keep an eye on as I progress.

It is certainly not the case that both Belzy and JPIC are Dizzy's teammates. Belzy opens this post by declaring an early suspicion on Dizzy, but then spends the rest of the post talking about things that are in no way related to that read. On the one hand, I like that Belzy called Dizzy out so early. On the other hand, I dislike that this post does not actually offer any explanation of the read. We are introduced to the idea of suspecting Dizzy, but are given no impetus to push that suspicion forward.
It is impossible to tell whether Dizzy's JPIC post was prompted in any way by Belzy's post. They came just a couple minutes apart. In a vacuum, it is a strange look no matter how you slice it. Mafia Dizzy responds to Town Master Radishes to justify a town read on Town Guillotine, then after a few moments of silence, blurts out "Hey maybe JPIC is town too." Why JPIC? Why that moment? Idk.

Does Day 1 Dizzy name half of his teammates as town reads during his catch-up? I don't know. it is not impossible. NOTE that Dizzy neglects to name JPIC. I am again unsure what this means. If I have to pick a side, I would say that Dizzy is likely to be more conscious of his fake read on Mafia JPIC than Town JPIC. So JPIC being omitted from the list in this case can be seen as a good thing. But I am hardly convinced of that, and I could easily go either way on that. If it matters at all. Idk again.

I've thought people outed themselves by calling me Dizzy before they knew me. Not exactly the same as the Alexa/Paopan situation, but I've never seen an actual slip like "you knew this from scum chat" before I think. Alexa very town for thinking this though. No read on Paopan.

Just highlighting this post to emphasize a point about how Dizzy is interacting with known teammates here. Dizzy has (previously) defended Marmot, but appears to be backing off of that slightly at this point. Lacking the full context, but I would assume that the Marmot suspicion is growing at this point. More importantly, Dizzy introduces a new "very town" read on Alexa here. And Dizzy has also previously voiced support of Mac's soft push on me. So that's 3 teammates who Dizzy has, at one time or another, voiced support of in some form. 2 of them have been outright town reads. Dizzy does not look inclined to drive a bus over anyone at this stage. May be a bad look for JPIC. Potentially also Belzy.

This is the alleged slip that Urist pointed out, the accusation being that LP feigned ignorance about the soup kill. I don't really think going off of slips like this yields the best results, cause I've seen a lot of town miss stuff or assume stuff and it being seen as a slip. I think actual slips are very rare. However, LP is later claiming that they did read the OP, but that Nanook must have edited it. I don't know if this happened, but it seems a bit unlikely? Why not just say that you missed the part about the soup kill instead of "No, it changed"? Maybe this has more to do with LP's personality than anything. I could see LP trying to feign ignorance here, but I don't think that is a slam dunk thing at all.

But reading through LP's iso, I just end up with very mixed feelings. I've only played one game day with them before, but they were obvious town to me in that game. This game, I don't get the same feeling. At the same time, there's actually a lot of content and analysis to read. A lot of the analysis doesn't really make sense to me, but that was the same as last game. What I think may be different is that last game they eventually became very town leader-y and sorted people pretty aggressively and had much more impact overall. I wish I had a more firm take here, but I don't. If others have more experience with LP, please share.

Neeko thought that's what Marmot did and that seems to be the pattern in Marmot iso.
Pretty much identical so far to Team Fortress Mafia where Marmot was Town.

There's also this, which is the only thing LP has posted about Marmot. This being the only thing in their iso when there's a lot of content isn't great in itself.

And ther's been a lot of discussion around LP, and if they're mafia there might be a lot of anti-alignments to draw from it. I could see them being mafia here, so I'm not opposed to chopping them.

Would also like to know where LP is at with reads/sorting right now.

The option exists, but I would prefer not to do that at this time. Soup, and I also think it should be possible for you all to town-read me without my role being made public. Dizzy, Mac, and Alexa all treated me in ways that would be wacky if I was on a team with each of them.

Sloonei/creature are probably the towniest people in my PoE.

Pao is just outrageously scummy and if he is town then he's not doing a great job of showcasing his townie self. Day 2 votes look decent and the fact nobody is defending him gives me some pause. A wolf!pao heavily implies that sabie is a wolf as well.

and then DrWilgy exists as a slot. An enigma.

If there is a mafia outside of my PoE then I think we lose as we will never get there. Pao and Sabie feel like the most likely hits in my poe outside of Ilario who is a claimed 3p (they're never endgaming).

she expressed concerns on alexa like 1-2 rl days ago I think? might have already been poisoned by then. But she also helped choose to kill mac.

I think at least one of those plans may have been allowing alexa to bury sabie. They probably did not expect to end up together in the walrus chat, but seeing as they were in there with a civilian (Belzy), they needed to treat it as a public space. Mac was an obvious kill target, and they had little room to avoid that as long as Belzy was there. The "plan" for sabie to shoot paopan in the night was never actually going to happen, and the real plan was for alexa to bury sabie for not shooting (with the help of Belzy), and then chop paopan the next day (today) once sabie flipped mafia.

Sabie's claim about shooting c4 as a vig is also made dubious by alexa's claims to have been targeted the same night. We now know that she was, in fact, not the mafia's kill target. This can be taken as an indication that c4 was the actual mafia kill target. Sabie did perform the kill, so her claiming of that kill was not dishonest in case she was caught in the act. She has not performed any additional kills since her first one because it was a 1-shot ability. She has been wielding the potential to shoot somebody since Night 1, but has not actually done so.

Additionally, if Alexa was not the N2 kill target, we have no reason to believe her claims about having been given a vest. She was bulletproof anyway. It is not impossible for LinearPoint's role to be true by coincidence. Indeed, it's possible Alexa really did receive a vest, and worked that into her false narrative. But LP has been cleared for days on the assumption that they saved alexa from being killed by the mafia team. We now know that to be untrue.

It's mostly because if Mafia chose players Creature would be chosen over Paopan.
Also the Paopan v Alexa feels TvT especially since Paopan is still insisting Alexa is Mafia even though she's very unlikely to flip Mafia.
