You are the Panacanthus cuspidatus, otherwise known as the bush cricket. Like many bug species in the Amazon, there isn’t a lot of information about these katydids out there beyond their initial observation back in the 1800s. What we do know is that they’ve got a sharp mouth and they love using it to hunt other bugs at night. I suspect they have difficulties hugging their friends. Also, did I mention they’re three inches long?

You are the Hyllus diardi, otherwise known as the heavy jumper. This is one of the largest jumping spiders in the world, measuring at around half an inch. While jumping spiders aren’t especially unusual, I just think they’re neat. Despite their method of hunting, they have a very deliberate way of movement that makes them docile and easily managed by humans. I want to be a jumping spider when I grow up.

They’re brutal warriors in the insect world, equipped with a strong exoskeleton and a painful, venomous sting. They even scream at you if you approach, just like Dunia.

They are even smaller than some single-celled bacteria. These wasps are blind, teeny tiny, and feed solely on the eggs of barklouses. They also exclusively live in these eggs, never leaving to find greener pastures. Cushy deal.

You are the Trachelophorus giraffa, otherwise known as the giraffe weevil. Look at these goofy guys. Imagine how much their turtlenecks cost. Besides looking silly, they don’t have much going for them. They’re incapable of biting or stinging and don’t move away from the trees they happen to be born near. They aren’t even predated on by other bugs.

Well, these beetles are a taste of the past, looking like our trilobite friends despite the beetle evolving millions of years after trilobites went bye-bye. Oddly, it’s only the females who look like this. The males are boring. Relatable.

You will be happy to hear that these scorpion tails pose no risk to you, because they are actually the scorpionfly’s penis. Interesting facts: the females are polyandrous (they mate with multiple males), and the males give nuptial gifts to convince the female they’re worthy. They’re just like us!

Not much is actually known about this bug, except that they’re found in the United States and like stabbing other bugs with their proboscis and then sucking out all the gooey bits inside once they’re suitably liquefied. Not unlike a milkshake, if you think about it.

You are the Creatonotos gangis, a pretty cool-looking moth from Australia (where else?). The big hairy protuberances on the back only appear like this if the moth ate a certain diet as a caterpillar. They act as pheromone distributors so that they can get down and dirty. What fun!

COOL BUG MAFIA


This is a standard mountainous game. Therefore, there are no power roles. The ratio of town vs. mafia is 9/2.

Cycle length is 48 hours for day, 24 hours for night.

The thread is closed during night cycles.

There is to be no outside communication between players unless they are members of the mafia, and this communication must occur in a host-designated space.

Flavour claiming is permitted! It has no relevance to alignment.

If you angleshoot or otherwise attempt to gain an advantage by breaking game integrity, I will personally stick a wet finger in your ear.

It is polite to declare your vote in-thread, but the poll itself is what will determine the chop.

Voting is locked during LYLO.

Hammering is available after day one. The hammer threshold is 50% + 1 of eligible voters. Please screenshot the poll and tag me if hammer is reached.

Ties are randomized.

There is no minimum post count required, but please make an effort to participate. You may be subbed out if you are largely absent from the game.

Per the above, there is no post limit.
