Hey, cobbler! Thanks for doing this. What are you hoping to gain as to alignment reads from this, or did you have a different intention?

Also, hehe, I'm so glad to hear that I've filled your head with sunshine!
two things i guess. i think they'll be good breadcrumbs for later and i want to get some more mature and updated thoughts on them. i know that will help me process through the game so i imagine it will help others too!
Are you intending on updating this systematically?
systematically is a strong word. i suppose i'll be most likely to keep it updated when either i need it myself or if anyone requests it. it doesn't take too long - especially if i start taking notes as i read new posts which i've just inspired myself to do

protocultures wrote: Tue Jul 14, 2020 4:03 am Urist - I take the song as slightly scummy if anything. Reasoning? Trying too hard.

They scumread dizzy as 99% mafia. Not sure how they can do that this early. Reeks of a fake read or bussing for credit.

Softing PR this early is also kid of scummy imo. Its bad if you are really PR, and Urist is pretty good at mafia from looking at the insane setup they created on 451, and its confusing for town if you are softing as a vanilla town, and makes it more likely to make a real PR pressured to out. Overall I hate it.

"I am town, and yes it's very cool. I get so emotionally exhausted when playing scum, it's ridic. Glad I don't have to do that here" - dislike statements like these and read them as slightly scummy, might just need to get some more forum games under my belt since I seem to see a lot of these "phew im so glad im town" posts on day 1 in forum games.
1. I posted in the signup thread that I already had my first post ready. Also I copy-pasted the lyrics and replaced like 5 words in an existing song, I barely did anything. So it's NAI and I was barely trying regardless. Plus y'know I wrote the rulebook for Needlessly Complicated in one night, effort is not a resource I'm stingy with generally.

2. It was obviously a fake read, not sure what you think the scum motivation is, esp since I never followed up. & setting up associatives at this stage is bad for business.

3. Not getting into this.

4. I actually asked dunya pregame to give me a town role PM, because otherwise I wouldn't be able to follow her rules. I'm pretty bad as scum bc I get overinvested, spend a ton of effort on the early game and burn out and unintentionally throw the game later on. It's a problem that I need to solve, but not in my first game on TS. I think I referred to this in the intro thread when Jay said I was not terrible.
this is all perfectly reasonable. i don't know why you were so hesitant to just post this or something similar originally. thank you though for engaging

we don't have any role information yet do we? other than 3 possible role sets? am i understanding that correctly?
There are 6 possible setups. They are as follows:

1) Cop, 9 VT, 3 Mafia
2) 2-Shot Tracker, 2-Shot Doctor, 8 VT, 3 Mafia
3) Cop, 2-Shot Doublevoter, 8 VT, 2 Mafia, 1 Godfather
4) Cop, 2-Shot Tracker, 8 VT, 2 Mafia, 1 Godfather
5) 2-Shot Doctor, 2-Shot Doublevoter, 8 VT, 3 Mafia
6) Cop, 9 VT, 3 Mafia.

It is random which of these 6 setups are in the game; we don't have public information as to which setup we're in right now. (Although people with one of those roles can narrow it down - like if you're a Tracker you know we're either in setup 2 or setup 4. Obviously, don't let on that you know that or the mafia will kill you.) Note that setups 1 and 6 are identical, so that setup essentially has twice the chance of occurring.

Mechanics aside - what are your reads, cobbler?
thanks

i haven't gotten much in the way of reads yet. it's taking me a lot of energy to begin learning who everyone is tbh. there was one post that pinged me a little bit that i haven't shared yet

To be honest though, I've never played with him when he's been scum and I've only seen his scum play in action once, when I was modding.

From what I know about his scum meta, it is pretty hard to distinguish from his town meta. He's really good at getting suspicion off of him.

But yeah, he has random nonsensical entrances that often come up in his town games. I'd say it's more NAI than anything

I agree that it does depend on the individual player, I'm not giving out lock town reads or anything. But since it's d0 and I don't know anyone here I have to make generalizations and rely on what I've seen people do more often as town/scum.
i tend to share this observation. obviously it's not a hard and fast rule but scum seems to tend to feel out the very early going and then start driving more in ensuing phases in my experience

Yeah, wow, this is really cool, I love playing with new players!

- I know Long Con extensively since we've played together off and on since I started playing mafia on Lostpedia and such back in 2010.
- I know Dizzy well enough given we've talked and played together off and on the last few years.
- I think I've played only one game each with Michelle and Scirrus.

I believe that's it, although someone correct me if I'm wrong... as it's possible I crossed paths with someone else that I'm either not remembering or you were under a different username or something.
i hope that you, LC, and dizzy can help those of us who are less familiar by letting us know explicitly if any part of a read or feeling you have about each other is based on meta and help us understand that background
