Re: Radiohead Mafia [DAY 3]

juliets wrote: Sun Sep 06, 2020 10:39 am @staypositivefriend re: your question last night here was my thought process on holstering.

I have x number of shots. I decided to use one on N1 because I thought I might get chopped early and needed to use my ability. I thought Mac was most likely to be fingered for the kill and therefore most likely to be doctored which would likely save him from other abilities so I chose Alison. (As it turned out I should have chosen Mac).

On N2 I saw things a little differently. It didn't seem likely that I would be yeeted because I had some strong town reads and it didn't look likely that I would be NK'd soon because there were so many galaxy brains the mafia would be after, including a galaxy brain with a power role that had broken the game open. I felt like I would more likely be one of the middle tier people that made it further into the game. And I also felt like later in the game I'd have a much better idea where to use my role, so I holstered.

As it turns out I'm glad I holstered because now I have much more knowledge about who to protect. I will probably not make it to mid game but meanwhile can play a fairly important role instead of playing a guessing game with where to use my power.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
thanks for the explanation, i vibe with your thought process

Are you up for a little speculation about mechanics? My drive to kill Wilgy is faltering.

PS...you really do misspell everyone's names, don't you?
sure, why are you skeptical about the wilgy lynch? what's making you doubtful?

also yeah, i do, lmao. i am notoriously bad at paying attention to other peoples usernames
So here's the thing...Wilgy's claim, on it's own, has that "too complicated to have been made up" feel. Mac acknowledged that and Wilgy joked back in a really towny natural way.

But part of his claim is a track on JPIC to Tutuu's. When Tutuu didn't get post capped she and Wilgy arrived at "well JPIC must have just gone to make it look like he was following Mac's plan." No offense to Tutuu, but that doesn't wash and I blasted Wilgy, who disappeared. (maybe just because he was leaving anyway)

But I took it as he has no answer for "bull, he can't just wander around, if he went to Tutuu's he went to post cap, and she didn't get postcapped."

However, it later struck me that if the order of resolution goes a certain way Wilgy gets his track, then JPIC gets vigged, then JPIC's postcap doesn't go because he is dead.

And I think...why does Wilgy create this elaborate claim with a huge hole in it? This is just real.
the most simple explanation i can give for this is that wilgy simply claimed that tutuu visited JPIC because he's scum and he had the TMI to correctly know where tutuu was going. i could see a world where wilgy decided to claim where his partner visited without much regard for how complicated the mechanics would become

but let's say we do live in a world where wilgy is town - where would that leave your reads? do you think all the pr claims are real in that case?

N1 I scanned the Amnesiac Album, but I didn't get any results. I'm supposed to get results if there's any scum roles on this album. If town is on this album they should be notified of my search. Not sure how this works tbh.

N2 I scanned Kid A. No results this time either. So I assume there's no scum on this album.

My role also has this Day 1 thing tailored to it, that if I don't have any votes at EOD of D1, then I'm bp for N1.

I was successful, but I think I was too scummy to be targeted N1 lol.
if any town has a song from amnesiac/kid A and they weren't notified of herm's search, they should probably claim that

The more I think about it the more I think samu and ted have high scum equity.
ted in particular had some really awkward/hedgy lines about JPIC. i'll take a look at samu's interactions since i've been sidelining him

Herm is in my original POE and everyone that isn't banned from claiming is claiming now.
Mass claiming on D3 isn't necessary, right?
we have a lot of confusion surrounding night actions and it's best if we clear that confusion up as neatly as possible
Alright, I'm fine with claiming then.

Re: Radiohead Mafia [DAY 3]

Alison wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2020 11:25 pm I'm skeptical that town has this much power. IME when this happens it's because a power role we thought was town is actually mafia. (Cite: Philosopher's Mafia) I currently have Wilgy as the most likely to fill that role, since everyone else seems clear for multiple reasons.
i feel the same way rn. regardless of anything, i don't think all of these claims are real

setup speculation/mechs aren't my strong suit by any means, so i'm going to avoid the temptation of basing my reads on mechs/claims and instead continue to base them on partner equity

Alison wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2020 11:15 pm also you're forgetting about samu, who has more scum equity than either radishes or herm imo
i've maintained that samu had a really pure/towny tone throughout d1 but i haven't done a deep dive into his interactions. do they reflect badly on him?

Re: Radiohead Mafia [DAY 3]

radishes hasn't particularly stood out to me this game, tbh. he had a few decent interactions with nutella and that was it. the only reason i'm assuming he might be scum is because mac/poison have both implied that he could be mechanically confirmed

herm has really bad interactions with all of the flipped mafia and it's really hard for me to overlook that

i would say with a fair amount of confidence that the pool of wigly/lc/dizzy is not all town. in fact, those 5 names (wigly/lc/dizzy/herm/radishes) probably have the last scum, but i'm still skeptical about tim

Re: Radiohead Mafia [DAY 3]

MacDougall wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2020 11:02 pm I think JPIC definitely targeted Tutuu.

Perhaps the reality is that he intended to red check her and the mafia roleblocker also targeted him so she wouldn't get post capped to make his claim more believable?

Ergo Wilgy is probably the mafia roleblocker?
is it possible for mafia to target their partners with abilities, though? i know different sites have different rules

MacDougall wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2020 10:52 pm I'm a little bit miffed that so many people can claim and it seems only Hally, SPF and myself can't.

@staypositivefriend what's your feeling on these claims?
alison is real

nook/tsp are real by proxy

dya is real (the way they're approaching the claim is just really genuine imo)

juliets is real on a surface level, but i get your grievance about her choosing to holster. i'm still inclined to believe her but i'd like to hear her explain her thought process more clearly

my first thought is that long con's ability felt more like a mafia ability than a town ability, tbh. i do not townread him even if i believe that the claim is probably real

drwigly's claim is specific but i do not townread him for that alone. it's not beyond the mafs ability to make up a believable fakeclaim

and mostly, i have no idea why the hell i'm not allowed to claim when these other roles are, lmao
last sentence is a fucking mood

how do you feel about the notion that TSP doctored Hally but it apparently didn't stop the kill?
it puzzles me because the claim implies that the mafia has a roleblocker ability of some sort - and i can't see why they would go out of their way to target TSP of all people. it's possible that the role is inverse and blocks a specific targeted from being protected, though. it doesn't give me much useful information, tbh
