How Keepers Work
Given that we draft teams rather than individual players, the concept of keepers is a bit different.
At the start of the 2022 fantasy season, the basket draft will be replaced by a keeper selection. Players will reveal which team they wish to keep the rights to in standings order (i.e., league champ reveals first, 2nd place reveals second, etc. etc.). How does this effect draft order? Draft order for the first round (and thus which basket of picks you receive) is determined by your team's real life win loss record. So, for example, if you kept the dodgers this year you would have the first basket, because the dodgers had the best record in 2020. Someone that keeps the Padres would have a higher basket than someone who keeps the red Sox. Etc. etc.
After the keepers are selected, the team draft goes as normal (note that baskets will be rejiggered during the off-season so that someone keeping the team with the best record isn't rewarded with a high second round pick as well--that will be taken care of in the off-season though!)
Trading Team Rights In-Season
If you'd like, you can trade the future rights to a team during the ongoing season. You must retain the rights to at least one team, and no matter how many rights you have you can only keep one going into the next season. Trading rights has NO effect on the current season, it only impacts which teams you can select as your keeper the following year.

First and second baskets get juicier picks in the first three rounds to compensate for not having fourth round picks. I believe this balances out well.
The selection order for picking baskets is:
bwt
Jpic
Epi
Fatmo
UFO
Davedob
Nanook
Sloonei
Here's a spreadsheet with a visual representation, where I'll be tracking picks:
bwt has first pick for what basket he wants, will update the spreadsheet as we go. Tag the next person up here and/or on discord after you make your pick!

Re: Syndicate Fantasy Baseball League - 2021
League invite is here: https://fantasy.espn.com/baseball/leagu ... 22b6e1feac
For this league, instead of drafting individual players we'll be drafting teams then choosing who to roster from within those picks. Here's an overview of how this will work (it sounds more complicated than it is, trust me it's actually pretty simple and straightforward once you start doing it and I'm happy to answer any questions along the way!):
After we know who is playing, I'll randomize a list of our names, 1-10. The first person will choose their "basket" of picks, the second will choose theirs, and so on.
The Baskets
Assuming a ten person league, the baskets will be as follows:
So as you can see there's some strategy regarding which basket you want, and having the first overall pick isn't necessarily the best choice.
If we have a 6 player league, the baskets will be
If we have 7, we'll do a snake draft for four rounds and the two unpicked team's players will go to the waiver wire.
If we have 8 or 9 players I'll figure out some creative solution.
Picking baskets will take probably a day or so, and the Team draft will take probably 2 or 3 days to complete. As long as people can check in two or three times a day it'll fly right by.
After teams have been picked, we go to
Roster Selection
I'll send everyone a google form, you fill it out with the players you want to keep. Simple as that! I'll give everyone probably three days to get this in.
The positions we're using:
And the scoring categories:
After everyone has selected their roster and I've input their selections, every player not rostered will be available on waivers. You can freely pick up any available player regardless of what mlb they play for from this point forward, and/or make trades. The waiver period is two days, and the first waiver order will be in reverse order of first round picks in the team draft.
