Re: Mountain Mafia [DAY 4]

Dragon D. Luffy wrote: Fri Dec 01, 2017 7:04 pm I'm also bothered by the lack of votes in this day.

If Jay is bad, it would make sense for there to be some counter-wagon by now (maybe Wilgy is the counter wagon?). And I don't like how everyone who is voting for Jay is someone I'm currently townreading (well there is Jack, but I like current Jack more than Day 1 Jack so i'm still on the fence about him). Maybe mafia is just watching from afar, since the civs are doing their dirty work for them. So they don't need to expose themselves, by making bussing too obvious or risking discussion going against them.
Suspected JJJ teammates: Mal, Speed, Dunya

One voting Jimmy, one voting away from Jimmy. Two not voting.

Bad.

There's no smoking gun like him shooting Wilgy and then no lynch last game but he feels way too passive. More like Pirates Speed than any other version of Speed.

I don't have a good description. The site we played at has been defunct for a few years now and she wasn't bad regularly. Her town game was characterized by crazy good intuition and palpable sincerity, but again, this was a few years ago. Her baddie game, I think, would be a bit more reserved, as sincerity is a hard thing to fake.

I'm currently reading her as town.
I think this still describes Dunya's town game, especially the second one.

I disagree, Epignosis had an important role in saving Jack in that lynch. It was his push that made it all start happening in the end there.
Shit Epi they're onto us!

But seriously, LC. You don't see my halo and my spikey shoes? The case can't keep twisting and turning to fit whatever new tinfoil should arise.
Can you explain what you mean here?

Sloonei said he thought the votes moved off you because the case crumbled. I reminded him of Epignosis' non-case-related reasons to not vote for you. Then you accuse me of "twisting and turning" for some tinfoil case?

That reaction just looks so bad to me.
The case is nothingness. It's reaching for slips and it's "this post is weird." It's all tone and gut, even if you don't want to admit it.

Epi decided to not vote for me. Daisy and Eloh started tone reading me good.

The case twists because when the first nonslip is rejected by enough people, we come up with a new slip. I'm buddies with Jimmy per Dunya. I'm buddies with Epi now per you. Earlier I was buddies with Bob and I think I was accused of being buddies with Speed twice.

It's all bullshit. Tone reads for the townies (play more better) and frame ups for the baddies (play more better).

Why does my reaction look bad?

I'm not all the way caught up (really wish Votes were tracked because I didn't see the apparent Jimmy save at all, just the Domalakim one) but I also think Kyle looks worse.

I actually didn't get any pings for his back and forth with me (can see why others might). Rather, it's his back and forth with Epi and Sloonei that I think Kyle comes out looking bad from.
I was a bit concerned by Kyle's seeming backtracking after he named Jay as a suspect last nught. He then gave a reason and proceeded to discredit that reason over the course of our conversation.
Overall though, I thought he seemed genuine. I'm just not sure what to make of his Jay treatment.
That plus his not treating Domalakim the same as Jimmy.

If Jimmy is bad for saving Domalakim, Domalakim is bad too. But when you asked for his thoughts on Dom he was like "What thoughts on Dom?"

Mesk is not a better lynch than Elohcin. Mesk is a better lynch than Dom because the low-poster motivation suits both of them, while only the former's content features tangible reasons for suspicion.
Bullshit. The latter has no content to compare.
That's the point. -1 is less than 0.
can you see no town conviction behind mesk's posts?
Why if you hated voting for her and seemed to see some towniness in Mesk, did you vote for her? I mean, I get the general feel of why but why her over Dom in your case? Please and thank you.
my vote for mesk was purely a means to prevent vote shenanigans. I don't like ties and I didn't want any unforeseen last second changes to the lynch result. All the votes were piling on Mesk so I padded her lead. It was not a lynch that I wanted, but at this stage in the game I wanted a clean lynch more than anything. It probably wasn't the best strategic move.

I'm still behind on the thread and not getting caught up at the moment. I'll have a lot of free time later this evening and hopefully then I can start making confident reads.

Pretty similar.

Two things I noticed in Pirates.

1) Speed was comfortable being suspected and coasting as long as he wasn't top lynch guy. He'd not throw out enough reads to look fake supatown but rather supply them as if they were a daily vitamin. Give once a day to keep the townies away. Doing that here, too.

2) Didn't mind pushing junk lynches like the no lynch and Wilgy. That hasn't happened here.

I gut read him bad and then waver when he coasts or says nice things about me.

I think he's bad but maybe...3rd or 4th top suspect.

Dunya ISO point by point part 2
Spoiler: show
Dunya ISOs Sig and finds him to be town.
Reference: http://www.mafiathesyndicate.com/viewto ... 08#p383708
This seems reasonable and I agree about the low post count. Additionally, this is true distance from Jimmy if Jimmy is bad.

Verdict: Not fake

Dunya townreads Sloonei and Daisy.
Reference: Oh shit I'm already too lazy to link to these.

The Sloonei read is pretty generalized. I actually disagree with Dunya's reasoning on Daisy being Town (her self defense being good) but Dunya will later call out my disagreement. This is consistent with a townie actually holding this position, even if I have issues with her calling out my opinion of Daisy's self defense for other reasons.

Re: Mountain Mafia [NIGHT 3]

Dunya ISO, point by point

Dunya claims to think Mesk is an inactive townie, not scum.
Reference: http://www.mafiathesyndicate.com/viewto ... 04#p383704
Dunya's read on Mesk remains consistent. Mesk wasn't a teammate and could have been an easy lynch if bad. The only bit that rings false here is Dunya claiming to have done ISOs but also claims to not know number of scum, K2's role, be way behind, etc. Seems ISOs aren't called for yet but this could be a playatyle thing.

Verdict: Not fake

Dunya claims to think scumteam is 3 people. Ergo, she is not scum because scum would know how many teammates they have.
Reference: http://www.mafiathesyndicate.com/viewto ... 18#p384018
Dunya's first post is "Gonna find those darn small mountains." Ergo, she's at least looked at the front page one way or the other. Additionally, when she makes this "mistake" she is literally quoting me pointing out that I thought there were 3 mafia but then realized there were 4. I find it unreasonable that between reading my post and responding to it that she forgot how many baddies there are.

Verdict: Fake

Not really the best expression here but I wanted to make a cool sentence.

Basically... Jack you have been calling her fake since the dawn of time. Do you still think that?
Dawn of time = yesterday afternoon lol.

The outburst doesn't move me or ping me. It's just kinda there.

Gonna go finish my Nutella ISO and determine if she's for sure a

Those 3 points are all irrelevant to my reasoning.

I am town, and Mesk may have been scum (I didn't think so, but still).

To everyone else, I am 50/50. Lynching an inactive 50/50 town/scum or lynching, to you, an active 50/50 town/scum?

I will never see it as a safer bet to lynch someone with no posts after 2600 friggin' posts. Lynch anyone at this point so you can actually start links and patterns.

Yeah I was upset, I have been staying up till 4am every night in hopes of clearing my name (spriyto) and adding something useful. I was 100% sure before I fell asleep last night there was no inactive lynchings. I'm not being condesending or self-righteous, I think it's very scummy to go after an inactive after 2600 posts and 12 days worth of actual CONTENT. we're approaching Day 4. We have one townie flip (and it was an important role) to an inactive player who we can't read much into. It's not rocket science

I'm really sorry everyone, I am sad, but I don't want to be condescending that is awful and not who I am. :sigh: :sigh: :sigh: :sigh:
There there.

Kylemii wrote: Thu Nov 30, 2017 2:35 pm dunya please keep in mind the spaghetti nightmare that occurred during the eod3 during your analysis. The vote was down to Dom and Jack and most of us chose Dom over Jack, some of us switched our votes. Then Mesk was brought up as a better alternative to lynching Dom, which was accurate. If Mesk had flipped bad we'd have something to chew on. Then Jay got brought up and votes went everywhere, there was a 4 way tie at one point and at another point, a couple minutes from the end, Jay had the most votes at 5, and seemingly a second later Mesk was in the lead again.
All the more reason to call your votes.

Re: Mountain Mafia [NIGHT 3]

+2 to DDL's Jimmy posts. 1 for agreement and 1 for how he feels like the DDL I know (finally). Objectively, idk if that makes DDL more likely to be town but in my heart, it makes me feel better about him. DDL deserves a full ISO.

Dunya deserves a full objective ISO. I gave her some Gate of Babylon which isn't fair. Sticking out is her accusation of me distancing from Jimmy. Projecting? Also sticking out is some reads I do agree with (not sure if I said all her reads were fake, my true feelings were that enough of them were but the GoB ISO underlined she's got some okay ones, too).

Also sticking out is Wilgy, whose interactions with Jimmy at EOD are strange. Jimmy was after him with kid gloves and he didn't really play along but didn't really make a stink either and voted with Jimmy at EOD. Distancing? Needs a closer more caffeinated look.

Not a huge fan of Quin or Sloonei's "lol why am I voting this way" posts at EOD. I kinda expect it from both of them as townies, particularly Quin, who CFDs in directions I don't like as a good guy.

Epi continuing to move up in my rainbow. Going to do a classic Jack read confidence list to clarify (mostly for myself) where my moving reads have all gone.

Dom is indeed a no-info lynch. He doesn't provide much help to figuring out the strong anti-alignments we have going on in the thread. Yet, I don't feel like we're starving for info, and I think the mafia kill (if it ever goes through) will be informative.

Dom is the way to go, guys. Let's make this game all about info and less about absent speculation.

I'm so glad you and Kyle are voicing mild objection to the Dom lynch. I always want to point out "but we learn nothing from an inactive lynch" but fear I'll look bad if they flip bad. If a scummer fools me into thinking they are good, I can explain that. If I mislynch a fellow townie, I can explain that. If I "defend" a baddie but they never said anything? There's no excuse. But I feel the need to weigh in on game theory and strategy, feel the need to say a Dom flip teach us nothing even as I vote Dom and home Dom gets lynched. Maddening.

Additionally, I'm glad for a really productive several days with lots of antialignments. This is a strong example I can point Realmsers to of all that can be done on "Day 1." The more reads and antialignments turn out to be correct, the better.
I think you read it wrong Speed is defending the Dom lynch.
Hi, DDL.

It's not about actually trying to stop the Dom lynch. It's about the irrational need to strategerize out loud.

Please elaborate.
I think you're basically describing town Eloh behavior and calling it a case for her badness. Epi calls you out.

Epi is also taking note of the Jack/Dunya square off in a way that doesn't look opportunistic. Feels way different from ME Epi, which is the last bad Epi I can remember. So that makes him look better.

Epi also characterizes your posts as easy analysis or analysis that leads nowhere. I could see the gth excercise that way as well.

What's your ideal (realistic or at least semi-realistic) EoD scenario here then?
CFD to a suspect with other suspects with antialignments who then flips scum. So that's probably you or Speed.

More realistically, best case scenario I can actually hope for is Dom hangs and flips bad.
