Updated the Hall of Fame. Epi continues to bat 1.000 for the year: he has won every game we've played on the Syndicate so far in 2020.

Also lots of movement near the top of the all-time leaderboard with Epi padding his lead, while MP and Mac move into a two-way tie for third just behind LC.

Nanook, Jay, and MP all get on the board for 2020.

Ball Game!

With Cowboy Joe West gone the umpires had lost their pillar. How could they carry on without Joe? It was impossible. The players had taken over. The game was going to be dictated by talent and on-field performance, rather than perfectly called balls and strikes and proper implementation of fielder interference rules. What a shame. America's pastime had gone to hell.
The fans rise in ovation. The players tip their caps, and the umpires hang their heads. The ball game is over.

Long Con has conceded. He was Greg Gibson, mafia goon.
The civilians have won. Congratulations, and well played, all!

The Umps were getting cocky. The game was going according to their plan. At long last, they were the center of attention! Nothing could be better than this, objectively speaking. They were feeling more and more comfortable.

But the players weren't going away that easy. When crew chief Joe West tried to toss Ichiro, it was a rallying point for everyone. Everyone has their breaking point, and this was it for the players. They banded together to do the impossible: they ejected the umpire!

End of the Line for the Brockstar

Brock Holt had played every position on the field that day, and he was just a triple shy of yet another cycle. As he stepped to the plate for his fourth at bat, the whole stadium filled with anticipation.

But there was one man who didn't want Brock to be the center of attention. This was his show, and he was in charge. So when the count got to 2-2, the umpire knew that anything close to the plate would be called strike 3. And that's just what happened. Brock, understandably, was upset. And the moment he opened his mouth, he was inviting his ejection. The writing was on the wall on this day.

Day 2

Bartolo Colon is not here to swing the bat. If ever there was an argument in favor of the Designated Hitter, one would think it exists in the unfathomable hitting mechanics of Bartolo. But he has an arm blessed by the baseball gods, so he's stuck around forever. The only price he has to pay is that once every few innings he is required to step into the batter's box and face a Major League pitcher.

But on this glorious day, against all odds, Bartolo swung the bat and it connected with the ball at just the right angle. As the world held its breath to watch it sail over the fence, we knew we'd witnessed... well, not greatness. But something adjacent to it. This was a sight to behold. But upon rounding the bases, the home plate umpire had decided he'd seen enough. A home run by Bartolo Colon was an absolutely ridiculous prospect. So as Bartolo thumped down onto homeplate, grinning ear to ear, the umpire softly motion an ejection, and informed the pitcher-turned-slugger that he must leave. For a minute there, Bartolo Colon had learned how to fly but, alas, he flew too close to the sun.

Night 1

Elvis Andrus singled in his first at-bat and had made a nice diving play in the infield earlier as well. It was a good start, and he was feeling the positive momentum. But then he was rung up on an obvious checked swing, and he couldn't believe it. His wrists didn't even move! In confusion he turned to the umpire, wide-eyed and bemused. Before he could even make eye contact, though, he was thrown out of the game. He hadn't even opened his mouth! What a crock.

I do intend to push the deadline back a bit. Maybe an hour or so moving forward.

Early Exit for Balfour

Grant Balfour had been having trouble with the strike zone all inning. Or, in his head, the umpire was having trouble with it. He'd already walked the leadoff man on what felt like a good pitch. Now he was down 2-1 in the count, and his latest pitch had been perfectly located on the black.

"Crikey!" he muttered to himself, wondering aloud where the pitch might have been. But his musings were overheard by the homeplate ump, who did not take kindly to criticism. Without a moment's hesitation, Grant was ejected. In stunned disbelief, he pleaded his case, but he knew there was no use. When eventually he retreated to the dugout, the ump stood staring long in his direction, as if daring anyone else to raise their voice. No one was willing to test him. Not yet, at least.

MacDougall has been ejected. He was Grant Balfour, a vanilla civilian.

Play Ball!

An exhibition game between current and past MLB players has been scheduled for this afternoon and the fans are packing the stadium to see their favorite players take the field. But the eternal struggle between good and evil rages on in the shadows behind homeplate; one small but powerful group of individuals conspires to bind the game to their shared will, siphoning off the energy and destroying the fanfare, all in the name of their blind quest for balance. I speak, of course, of the Umpires.

As the game begins to unfold, the players begin to notice that it is not being called fairly. Balls are strikes, strikes are balls, the hallowed infield fly rule has been utterly tarnished!

It’s the bottom of the third and the batter strikes out looking on a pitch two inches outside. From the dugout, the manager can be heard scoffing. Without a moment’s hesitation the umpire rips off his face mask, and with all the rage of the cosmos behind his pointer finger, signals a booming ejection. The floodgates have been opened. It is up to the players to clean up this mess…

It's a beautiful day for a ballgame. The sun is shining and the mitts are popping. Children line the fences seeking autographs, players are stretching lazily in the outfield, and the umpires are preparing their scorecards. The smell of peanuts and beer fills the air. The game is set to begin soon.

Official Baseball Rules

-Double targeting will not be allowed in the event that a player has a role with unlimited shots. Limited shot abilities may double-target.
-A balk will be called when a pitcher who is on the rubber makes any motion naturally associated with his pitching delivery and does not actually deliver the ball, feigns a throw to first or third base and fails to complete the throw, or fails to step directly toward a base before throwing to that base. Once a pitcher has swung his free leg back past the pitching rubber while in the process of his leg kick, he must then deliver the ball to the plate or to second base on a pick-off attempt.
-Dead players should refrain from posting on-topic content, and their posts should be in dead red.
-It is encouraged that off-topic content be in OT green.
-This is the Commissioner's color. Try to avoid using it.
-Sportsmanlike conduct should be adhered to at all times. This is America's pastime and we should all do our best to be kind to one another. The MoD for this game is juliets.
