Re: Fleabag Mafia d1

I have a vague concern about falcon that he has a town meta that is very easy to hide behind while also being under no pressure to handle his teammates in any particular way. By being the POE-contrarian, he can just skate by (as mafia) by contesting whatever reads the most vocal townies come up with regardless of their accuracy.

This is not a concrete case, just an observation about the way he has played this game and how it would be viable for a mafioso. In the absence of a town-read, I am willing to entertain the thought more seriously.

Re: Fleabag Mafia d1

I have not commented on G-man yet: he has done nothing, but I don’t hold that against him. He’s a Grown-Man with adult things to do. He’ll join us for this game when he’s good and ready. However, when POE is the objective, and other players are separating themselves as town reads, G is by necessity going to be left in the pool of suspects.

The same is true of Johanna, though I know less about her extended absence on Day 1.

Re: Fleabag Mafia d1

Dizzy was already near maxed-out for allotted Day 1 towniness for me.

I agree that Ilario has looked solid. His way of feeling out Jay and I was a familiar pattern that I’ve seen from a lot of town players over the years.

I am hesitant to call Axehole a suspect. I think he is playing in a way that is intentionally abrasive and non-cooperative. The impulsive response to that is suspicion. I’d rather give it more time.

I might put falcon’s name on the list of Maybe Suspects if I had to choose someone.

This page has been unproductive. I am partially at fault for that. Let’s turn it around.

We seem to be circling around Marmot and sig as our primary options for today, but neither has an overwhelming case against them. Dizzy has articulated some arguments against sig, but otherwise this has mostly been a Process of Elimination in action.

If you (everyone) had to pick one more name to add to the list of candidates today, who would it be?

SPF case on me doesn't seem mafia aligned, but it's not good. It's like the equivalent of someone "scum slipping" when it wasn't a slip, but like worse. Especially if trying to think I'm mafia. HOWEVER, I don't see mafia making that sort of case, though its the type of thing they'd jump on.

Dizzy seems townie from tone and how they approached spf case on me, but that's like a light town read.

Anarchy has apparently claimed so they're a civ, but just totally 100% wrong.

Re: Fleabag Mafia d1

I assumed we all knew I was town-reading Jay. I’m not trying to conceal that anymore. But I prefer to avoid making explicit reads on him until most of the rest of the players have had a chance to do so, because there is a tendency for people to give too much weight to my Jayread, thus preventing them from doing their own work to read them. Jay and I have been playing mafia together for over a decade and have very similar philosophies about the game, hence the “same person” jokes. As such, we can read one another better than most. Since he is a player that tends to be at the center of chatter, I usually want people to develop their own reads on him for the sake of thread health. So I usually wait to express my own read on him, because a lot of folks tend to just adopt the “whatever slopnei says” approach to reading Jay.

It was supposed to be implied in my initial post about this that I am town-reading him here. The context of that post was a response to dolby’s “triad” talk, and my intention was to emphasize that there is likely a very good reason why dolby perceived a greater-than-usual amount of trust between us. It’s because there is.

We have played a bazillion mafia games together and are actually the same person.

I say this not to protest Dolby's suggestion that The Triad is too confident in each other, rather to emphasize that that perceived confidence is not without reason. There's a long history here, at least between Jay and I.

I have only known SPF since last year's champs tournament, but we were in multiple games together and discovered that we also tend to perceive the game along similar lines there. So there is again a strong degree of familiarity with her approach, in that it is noticeable and significant when our thoughts align early on.

So you are confident in JJJ, but not offering a read on him? I'm gathering also that there is a triad of you/JJJ/SPF that have become an unstoppable cohesive unit?
Dolby referred to the three of us as the “triad”, and that is what I am responding to here.

I don’t like to share my read on Jay too early in games because I feel like people give it too much weight when I do. I want the game to progress more naturally, both for him and everyone else.

There has been no need for me to announce a town read on him in this game anyway.

Who wants to chat?
How’s this game feeling so far?
I left the thread ~24 hours ago with no inkling of a scumteam and a couple light townreads and that hasn't changed.

Yourself?
I’ve been able to hover around all day today and I feel pretty good about a relatively large group of town reads. I lack any definitive suspects though, and would like to actually have a tangible suspicion against somebody as we crawl toward the deadline.
