I can’t, and for once I feel like I have a tangible suspicion against him as well: his “joke” about Dragomir that we had a short spat over. It was bizarre and of of nowhere, and after sleeping on it I feel like it was an attempt to slide the conversation back to a previous discussion (lynching a low poster, which both nanook and I had expressed tentative support for a little while earlier) without directly endorsing it or making it too obvious what he was doing. It looked like an awkward attempt at a transition disguised as a joke. If he genuinely wanted us to look at a low poster, he just needed to say so.

I can’t see anything but town Jack in this game. There was a burst of emotion (not a deliberate appeal to emotion) on Day 1 that I thought projected a level of agitation that would not have been reached if he was bad.
Please show me this. I haven't been bothered by Jack since the nutella thing, but I grant that in his extended absence I forgot about him. That's atypical.

My vote was on him before all of this started. “Low content” is one way of framing it. More accurate to the spirit of my suspicion is this: he has lacked content in such a way that seems he is shying away from it when presented with the opportunity. This is true of Day 1 and 2, and independent from his shtick.
I cannot speak for anyone else who’s voting for him, of course.

That is, the shtick itself is alignment neutral. I have thoughts about what it could mean in various different contexts, but G-man hasn’t offered much in terms of content or explanation, both since he confirmed that he’s not cursed or at any point during the game. I am lacking sufficient data to offer a concrete read on the G.

This is kind of where I’m leaning. In my very first game on the Syndicate, G-man spent the game communicating entirely via images for no real reason. He’s done other gimmicky things in the past as well. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him adopt a gimmick partway into a game after starting out “normal”, but that’s a different discussion that I can’t weigh in on in a meaningful way.

Re: Champions 2019 - Crisis on The Syndicate [Day 2]

G-man did not post with any noticeable restrictions, as far as I’m aware, on Day 1. His relative level of activity has not changed much between Days 1 & 2, so we can’t say that his activity has been diminished by the oompa loompa doompity shtick. But his activity on Day 1 was underwhelming, and he had been under heat for that coming into Day 2, so while the adoption of the posting restriction isn’t reducing his content output, it is perhaps enabling him to remain under the radar with a newly added security blanket.

I have to wonder if scum G-man would employ this strategy knowing that people were already suspecting him for his lack of activity on Day 1. This isn’t addressing the issue, it is exacerbating it. If G-man is bad, he could be trying to get us to think along these exact lines. Or he’s just town and having fun. Or he’s just having fun regardless of his alignment. I don’t really know, so I’m going to stick to judging the content of the posts through the oompa loompa song.

I never thought you were cursed, but when the assumption went around, you didn't correct it earlier, did you?

Self imposed posting restrictions are a great way for a baddie to hide out, and your content is slim. I will be here on and off all day, give me some of those sweet accountant analyses, G Man.

I want you to make me believe you, you know I do.
Self-imposed restrictions are a good way to hide IF the player is hiding behind the restriction. Do we think that G-man is doing that here?

Re: Champions 2019 - Crisis on The Syndicate [Day 2]

Responding to [mention]juliets[/mention] ISO post about me:

I make no apologies about my radishes suspicion. He stood out to me when the game was just getting started and I’ve continued to feel that way. I am open to other names and have been making an effort to explore other options today. Also when I called him “evil” I was just trying to be cute and come up with alternative words for “baddie”, “scum”, “mafia”, etc. Because I’m just so clever. I think I also threw around the word “naughty” earlier. I wasn’t trying to be manipulative. Just silly.

As for everything else you said about my activity and engagement, I’ll blame it on the sickness. But I disagree with the point that I don’t take a long time to figure things out. Maybe it comes across that way because I’m loud and assertive, but I’ll often go into Day 3 without a lot of confident reads. I can’t just scan the thread and make snap judgments of people, I rely on my process. Sometimes the games takes a while to open up. Being sick knocked me off my rhythm for a few days and stunted my Day 1. I try to be as open as I can when I’m communicating my reads, so if I don’t have many strong ones I’m going to say as much. I feel like I have a better grasp on the overall layout of this game than I did 36 hours ago, but it’s still not as great as I’d like it to be.

That is not the point. I'll explain:
Ted says the Mac spewed himself as not a member of the silencing-team, ergo ONE of the mafia teams.
He then concludes this spews Mac as not scum.
But that is not a conclusion you can draw. Even if Ted is right, that just means Mac is not on THAT mafia team. There's still another team. I wonder if this is a slip of mind that Ted is on the other team himself.

Does this make sense?
Ted is basically saying: "[This] proves that Mac is not on Team A which means he's not scum."
And I say: :smoky: :smoky: :smoky:

I'm a bit wary of these slips, cause sometimes it's just bad wording. But still, it may be something.
This sums up my take on this whole exchange, in case anyone was wondering. Probably nothing but worth tugging at. Good look for dizzy I think. No particular read on ted here, but I think I feel generally good about him.

I can’t see anything but town Jack in this game. There was a burst of emotion (not a deliberate appeal to emotion) on Day 1 that I thought projected a level of agitation that would not have been reached if he was bad.
Then you aren't town either.
That makes sense.

Re: Champions 2019 - Crisis on The Syndicate [Day 2]

Even in death, nutella tunnels me.

I moved my vote off of Mac because it’s early in the day and I want to use my vote to emphasize discussion. I made this same point when I voted for juliets. I make this same point in most games that I play. A vote on Mac at this stage just maintains the status quo. He’s a candidate to be lynched and I don’t object to that. I’d like him to do more things so I can have a clearer sense of where his head’s at in this game. But I don’t need my vote to be on him to get that to happen right now. G-man is another candidate who’s not getting as much attention, so I put my vote on him instead. I am aware of the deadline and will cast a meaningful vote when that is approaching.

I’ve made a version of this post a hundred times before.

Thank you for your thoughts, ghostella.

If I squint at that whole exchange, the most pro-town argument for Mac that I can come up with is that it indicates he’s operating in a mindset that suggests an awareness of the two mafia teams as competing factions that can be weighed and used against each other. I could buy that in a vacuum.

Your turn.

Well I wasn’t town in any of those games, and I’m the best and and most open minded civilian player on the site, objectively and officially speaking. I accept your proposal of lynching a low poster as a viable strategy for this game moving forward. :signofthecross emoji:

Now whether or not it’s the best strategy at any given moment is a different story. I still think we have a good amount of legitimately suspicious content in this thread.

Makes sense.

But if we’re talking about “keeping a low profile”, I feel like Drago and Tranq don’t really fit; they’ve simply been absent (I think). G-man and speedchuck would be the names that better fit the model of “coasting”.
I agree on one of those names, lol

Very few people here are going to kill a lurker D1 or NK them, yeah?
It depends on the situation. Night kill, very unlikely unless we have a mafia team that’s going for WIFOM/chaos kills, or a really lucky redirector.

A lurker lynch is never off the table. The general trend in this community, by my observation, is that we’d typically prefer to lynch an active player whose posts can give us further clues. But in the absence of a clear strong suspect, lynching a low-poster just to eliminate the variable is a safe option.

This has been a volatile and contested game so far, so it’s no surprise the option hasn’t been brought up much.

Why drago?
Pretty sure there’s two scum in the day one non-entities, i.e. tranq drago Colin and g-man

I’d kill any of them, mac, or SVS right now
Okay but what makes you think that?
Ditto dom’s question about SVS. I maintain a town read on her, but I’m open to differing opinions.
Scum have incentive not to draw attention/not play much D1 in this setup
What in particular about this setup incentivizes that?
