The Syndicate

Hi everyone!

We're ready to get these games rolling into sign-ups. Some important information to be aware of:

1) We have canceled the "finale" game, and will be running this event more like a festival than a "tournament". We're about community here first and foremost, and competition is always lower on the totem pole (even if we're amazing and talented mofos).

2) You may only sign up for ONE of the four games!!! This will allow us to celebrate each era of our community and get the most out of each of the four games.

3) We will have an active spectator chat running throughout the games, accessible to players who are not actively engaged with one of the four games. This chat will remain UNSPOILED at all times.

4) We will be running a number of additional events throughout the next month or so beyond just these Mafia games, to include trivia, walrus, and more. Spacedaisy and juliets will have these details soon.

Hey gang,

We're nearing the 10-year anniversary of our site's founding, which can be construed as the 23rd of October, 2022 (ten years after Tangrowth registered). It's kind of hard to believe that this site has existed for a decade, and that our community at large has become so integral to the broader forum Mafia community online. This is something that must be celebrated, and so we shall celebrate it.


We intend to run an entire tournament on The Syndicate, most likely through November, to celebrate the occasion. The details are still being sorted out, but I can give you a basic idea of what to expect. We will run multiple games (the number of which will be determined by the number of participants we have). Let's say we end up with 60 participants. Perhaps we will see the following:

10-Year Anniversary Tournament Game 1 - The Syndicate (15 players)
-- This game will be designed in accordance with the classical Syndicate style that was most prevalent during the initial period of the site, up to about 2015.

10-Year Anniversary Tournament Game 2 - RYM Invades The Syndicate (15 players)
-- This game will refer back to the era of the site when the RateYourMusic users (among others) showed up and turned everything on its head, around 2015-2017.

10-Year Anniversary Tournament Game 3 - The Syndicate Sells Out of Energy Drinks (15 players)
-- This game will refer to the more recent era when the activity levels of our games exploded, and the level of competition became fiercer than ever, around 2017-2019.

10-Year Anniversary Tournament Game 4 - The Syndicate Goes Viral (15 players)
-- This game will refer to the current era of the site, after the Mafia Universe Championship Tournament season 6 period when users from all over the place began to flock here to test their mettle.

10-Year Anniversary Tournament Finale (not necessarily 15 players)
-- This game will consist of players who have been chosen to advance from the prior games (by a process not yet determined) to a final game, which is itself themed on the entire history of the site in general.

These are just examples. We don't know yet exactly what the games will look like, or how many players will be in them, or even how many games there will be. That will be determined once we have a better idea of how many players are interested. If you would like to participate, then just click that YES button in the poll! There is no need to choose a specific game yet, so just indicate that you would like to participate in the tournament in general.

All users are eligible to play in any of the games, but you may only play in one of them (so it's a proper tournament) unless you are selected to advance to the finale game.

The games are likely to incorporate many unique roles and perhaps mechanics too. Don't expect them to be simple, and don't expect everything to be "standard" in your personal view of what a standard game is.
