What important person was born in Montana and went on to direct two of the most important films of their decade? I’ll give you a hint: he made a lasting impression on our next Lifetime Award Recipient.

This award winner has created some of the most innovative games on the site and some might say he’s the real Genius. Several of his games have a twin for instance, but not all of them have a lynch. He is a somewhat enigmatic player and host and is admired in both roles. In one game as a player, he even created an algorithm that would indicate who was bad. Alas, he never got to use it.

In all the years I've been alive, I've never had a year quite like 2018. There were good times. There were bad times. A serial killer destroyed Hogwarts. Greece was overrun by Persians. Corruption overcame the mighty Yun Qui. Roofs were built, Vampires slayed humans, and there were a couple different times that rings destroyed parts of reality.

What I cherish most from this year, though, were the new players.

And one of them in particular is being honored tonight.

You were a strong player ever since you showed up. Present, active, fun, engaging. You won (and lost) games like you belonged here, and indeed you do.
As someone who won the "Jack Torrence has always been the caretaker" award last year, I must forward the sentiment on to you. It feels like you've just... been here. Like you're a part of the community.

You are a Nexus. Any role ability targeting you during a night phase will automatically be redirected to any other player selected at random. This may only prevent one night kill, however. A second night kill will pierce your nexus protection and you will die.

You are also blind. Each vote you place during all day phases has a 50% chance of missing the target and randomly hitting another player within one poll position (alphabetically) of your intended choice. This will never result in a vote for yourself.

There weren't many presenters left standing at this point. Did it really even matter what happened? After so much bloodshed, the publicity was sure to be loud and negative. And what an opportunity! Hello ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to the 2024 Socky Awards! It's been another great year of murder and mayhem here at the Syndicate. Hearts were broken then mended; innocent civilians, hanged like scoundrels. But, as always, the real mafia was the friends we made along the way. As the body dangled from the noose over center-stage, a man ruffled through his pockets. He found a folded piece of notebook paper covered in writing, and proceeded to relay its contents to the audience...

Heists, or Classic Games, are a form of game meant for players who want a more laid-back experience between role madness games. They are restricted to a low number of players, and only 3 power roles, so that most of the players have to rely on classic detective work instead of game mechanics to win.

The game I came here to talk about does not fit that description.

The game follows the restriction of only 3 power roles, but then twists the mafia format in a very unique way, by getting rid of lynches and making a gameplay based on items, locations and mini-games. It also features a beautiful amount of flavor, with text format and images creating an atmosphere fitting of the theme it is based on.

But... isn't that role madness? It might be called that on some sites. But what is remarkable is that, even with the madness, it's a game that still features a low number of roles, and builds a setup without having to hand every player out a bunch of shiny powers, but instead introducing new forms of gameplay. Games like that impress me, because they tend to be very hard to balance, and have the potential to the the most creative and original. They flee from the normal template of mafia roles to create a new type of game altogether, and it they succeed, they can be unforgettable.

Clearly nobody is doing anything to stop this ceremonial slaughter. The police don't seem to care. The paramedics can't keep up with the mounting pile of corpses.
Everyone without a Socky is growing restless. It's all very sad to see unfold like this. One presenter had grown so disenchanted with the evening that he decided to order himself a pizza and eat it in a back room. It had so much cheese on it that his pulmonary artery actually exploded inside him. With fire. That's why you get fucking light cheese, dude. Or maybe he was just killed by somebody else while he happened to be eating that gross over-cheesed mess.

The awards ceremony had truly become a bloody mess. Bodies were everywhere, and nobody seemed any the wiser about who would be so bent on ruining an otherwise glamorous night for the privileged famous people of Syndicate mafia. How positively ghastly. The presenters formed a circle around two and converged upon them in a kaleidoscope of glimmering gold watches, tuxedo bows, and glowing perfect teeth. One man didn't survive.
