He was focused wholly on having been mistaken about nutella and overlooked that nutella's partner was you -- the player he'd been keen to eliminate. So he can accept that he was 1 for 2 among you.

Re: Vanilla Mafia - Night 2
With 12 players originally I would expect 3 mafia members. 9 vs. 3 isn't ideal for balance, but it's better than 10 vs. 2 in what I presume is a non-mountainous game. An independent is also a plausible balancing mechanism, but that could be anything and no clear evidence yet exists.

Re: Vanilla Mafia - Day 2
Your case against him is based heavily on his treatment of you in ways that remind me of every wrong case you’ve ever rendered against me (other than “making things happen” which mean nothing to me). He is playing his token civilian game the way he always plays it, and it doesn’t look inauthentic. He hears this shit in every game, that his questions are only there to look a part or that he isn’t really hunting or whatever. It’s almost always wrong. It’s why he gets lynched in every game I host — I’m the only one that seems to understand consistently and I have to tell people to stop it.Epignosis wrote: ↑Mon Jan 14, 2019 9:17 pmWhy is that?JaggedJimmyJay wrote: ↑Mon Jan 14, 2019 9:07 pm Sloonei is subject to some of the most inexplicable lynches I ever see with a frequency that is bizarre. Re: Vanilla Mafia - Day 2
This does not sound like a post written by Epignosis, and many of the reads warranted the Russtifinko Color-Coding Method® for their meandering and hedging.Epignosis wrote: ↑Sun Jan 13, 2019 7:17 pm G-Man- I do not suspect this person. If I had to name one person as a civilian, it's G-Man, because his thought process jives mostly with mine and he's doing the most work (although the bar hasn't been set real high). Would not lynch.
JJJ- I maintain a healthy suspicion of JJJ, as most of the time lynching him requires an act of God. I read his commentary on WaywardSon. It makes sense to me, but I had differing assumptions when I read WaywardSon's posts. I'll get to those at the end since Wayward starts with a W. For right now, I don't have any pressing reason to lynch JJJ unless I am right about Sloonei. Would not lynch.
MafiaMenace- I do not suspect this person. I give passes to new people Day 1 (and rey, who has returned from the dead, resurrected as an "artist" of questionable skill). MafiaMenace has earned an extension of that pass, because I like his stuff. He started out slow, but I can see a progression of thinking that feels natural and indicates sincerity. Would not lynch.
nutella- nutella gives me fits. I never get her right, so take whatever I have to say about her with a grain of salt (or the whole Morton company). I don't agree with G-Man that nutella fell into some trap of over-eagerness. nutella may be a Gullible-Ass Basic BitchTM, but I'm not buying that. Would not lynch.
reywaS- He is God's vessel. His greatest pain in life is that he will never be able to see himself perform live. Would lynch.
Sloonei- I suspect this person the most. Here is why if you missed it. Would lynch.
Spacedaisy- I've got nothing. Would lynch.
sprityo- The guy has 18 posts, and I do not see where this happened. Would lynch.
WaywardSon- As I said, the way JJJ framed WaywardSon's posts makes sense, but I had differing assumptions when I read them. For example:
I would have thought, were WaywardSon annoyed by Night posting (because he was bad), he would have voiced his question to Colin privately, and not broadcasted it in the thread. I get that doesn't preclude his being mafia, but that was my own view. However, I have not forgotten this:
He tried to make it look like he had invested a half an hour in the thread, but had devoted a whopping seven minutes. Maybe where he's from, they don't have timestamps. Would lynch.Epignosis wrote: ↑Fri Jan 11, 2019 5:58 pm3:05pm EST

This nonsense assumes human performers are perfect, and they absolutely aren't -- on any website (I've played on so many). It's just another tool at our disposal to supplement the current game's content. It may cloud judgment a little sometimes but we don't rely on it exclusively.
as mafia someone might mimic their play as town
they might switch up their town play one day
using meta at all for reads isnt good
Meta should be relied upon sparingly, but never use it ever is ludicrous.

sprityo hates being suspected when he is a civilian. It gives him diarrhea or something. So naturally I voiced suspicion of him, he threw his toys out the pram, and I thought it looked authentic. I remember him being correctly suspected in at least one game we were both bad in, and he treated it as comedy instead of a cause for getting cranky.

Re: Vanilla Mafia - Day 1
I didn't say that anyone does that. I would rather argue about this than play Mafia frankly.
There is no need for a person to make a conscious decision at the moment of speech I am going to say "literally" in a context where it would not be accurate because I desire to add emphasis and levity to my commentary. Instead, it is a trend stemming from habit with origins in that purpose. I would wager that nearly everyone who uses the term incorrectly is well aware that the topic in question is not truly "literal" if pressed. To issue corrections is therefore a waste of everyone's time and serves no greater purpose. Yes, thank you for that, I don't give a shit, I said what I said, these commas are also incorrect, I don't give a shit about that either. "Could care less" is much the same phenomenon, and while that one drives me nuts, it's just as silly to cram corrections into a discussion when a proper interpretation was already achieved.
Linguistic precision is only useful in a world where communicators can interpret inflections, tones, and intentions.
Now, if the dialogue involves English as something other than a first language, then there's a purpose.

Re: Vanilla Mafia - Day 1
Improper usage of the word "literally" is literally the point of that tendency. I won't say that it is a clever or interesting thing for people to do so, but to render *corrections* is to miss the social queues underlying the trend. The appeal is drawn from that inaccuracy: even when something is not a literal truth, proclaiming that it is a literal truth anyway adds emphasis and levity.
