Re: DFS Mafia [ENDGAME]

After games like Great Gatsby, Phenon Origins, and 2018 Syndicate Mafia, where everybody did nothing and the mafia yawned their way to victory — I don’t know how this is still an argument.

A more active game doesn’t guarantee a civilian win, but it clearly improves their chances. There is probably a ceiling to that law somewhere, but we haven’t hit it yet on this site.

Kinda does. Kills change the pace. If the cop had been killed, TH would never have been cleared. If Jay would have been killed, analysis posts and thread momentum may have died. People change their minds pretty quickly and tinfoil exists. It takes a couple night kills and a couple of mislynches in a heist to bring the game to lylo.
I thought Mac was lying about being the cop the whole game TBH.

My analyses were nice to instill confidence, but the prevailing wisdom was still never in favor of any of the mafia members. The game may drag on longer with some kills, but the civilians had this thing.

I disagree, but then what do I know when I only got to read half the thread?

If 25% of your posts are spam, and you have 1,000 posts, that's 250 posts other civilians have to deal with that have nothing to do with anything.

Frankly, I am never going to be impressed just because somebody posts a lot. That's easy to fake. I can do it (and have done it) if I have the time.
It doesn't have to be "impressive", but there is so much strategic value to it. MP blowing the thread up, even with a high spam content, drove up the posting rate of other players. In so doing, our capacity to judge everyone else improved accordingly, and we eliminated more than half of the players from the suspect pool before we even had to lynch the first person.

The civilians showed themselves brightly from the word GO, and that simply cannot happen in a quieter thread.

The surviving player with the highest fantasy point total will win the game as an independent.

Every living civvie currently (I would assume) has the same fantasy point total, since all we lynched were mafia and the mafia did not get a NK in.

Ergo, every living player will win the game as an indie aligned role.

Re: DFS Mafia [Day 3]

Alright everyone. I hope we realize what is at stake here.

This has become an even more historic achievement than I was talking about in the wake of the Robot lynch. I was referring to a lesser sort of perfection, we'll call it a "no hitter", in which the civilians never lynch wrongly (but still lose at least someone to a night kill). That has never occurred on The Syndicate in a non-burglary.

But now we have an opportunity to do something truly incredible, something that I suspect hasn't happened before on the vast majority of Mafia-dedicated websites out there.

Civilian win in a full-length game without losing a player.

That's a true perfect game. I have wondered about this before, imagined what it'd be like and how difficult it would be. I never expected to actually be in this position though, more than likely one proper lynch away from achieving the holy grail of civilian Mafia. If we make this happen, nobody will ever be able to take it away. Ever. It will be the greatest glory I have ever been a part of in this damned game we all like to play.

So let's treat this Day 3 with the proper reverence, and more importantly the proper urgency. It's LyLo.

Why do the GTH reads mean anything? Her alignment is not dependent upon that. This is your opinion, not the opinion of the player population at large.
sprityo wrote: Mon Aug 20, 2018 3:11 pmThe same thing coincidentally happened when I voted alien. Aesthetically speaking someone is on the bottom of s list for a reason. I don't need people to call me "supa-town". That is meaningless. You made accusations:

"he frames to promote a worse look."

"He throws mud on my robot read without taking into account that"

These imply that I have an ulterior motive. They're your words. The first line there literally includes the word "frames", as though I am piecing together a picture with the desire to make you look bad rather than the desire to figure out your alignment.

No, sir. Absolutely not. Let's review:
sprityo wrote: Sun Aug 19, 2018 1:59 pm RobotNerd277 - It's been nearly 48 hours since her last post. Whether that indicates giving up, or simply a lack of commitment to the thread is beyond me. The GTH leaves Robotnerd as a negative read across our board of 6 players as well. My vote will go here today unless i find something in her short ISO to lead my otherwise. Any direct comments you can give me before i start this JaggedJimmyJay?
I didn't take into account that you went over the interactions post later, because when you wrote this post containing that very read that I "threw mud at", you had not done so yet. I am not going to give you advance credit for something that happens later when I am assessing what happens now (at that relative moment in your post history).

This is the problem. As of that moment, you had no idea what my case was. You seemed to have no idea why Robot was getting so much shit. And yet you still colored her red, as the most suspicious person in your opinion. I cannot figure out why you did that, and to me it looks like you felt like you were obligated to do that.
sprityo wrote: Sun Aug 19, 2018 2:05 pm Jay, my takeaway from your Robot/alien interactions is that they soft defended eachother and at the same time tried to appear not teamed. some weird stuff like that
sprityo wrote: Sun Aug 19, 2018 2:06 pm Which is to say, i think it's a good enough reason, but not on par with what sold me on alien. It's certainly a better argument to lynch robot over DH
These posts came after your reads list, meaning my case had no bearing on your decision to color her red. My case was irrelevant to that post. So why should I have taken this into account then? What sense would that make?

Re: DFS Mafia [Day 2]

I will say a couple things to hopefully get the train rolling:

1. I am less confident in my suspicion of either sprityo or DharmaHelper than I was in my suspicion of Robot.
2. If we want to win this game in historic fashion, then we must get it right. Day 3 is LyLo.
3. Any hunting you all can provide is crucial to helping us get through that LyLo. If I am wrong about anything, the easiest way to discern that is to come to your own conclusions.
