There is a good deal of familiarity between most groups of people you could extract from the playerlist. I've played with a number of people here more times than I could count (e.g., Mac, Dizzy, Marmot, Wilgy, etc)

I appreciate an early effort from Seanzie to develop a read of some measure of substance at a stage when many wouldn't bother. I temper that by acknowledging that "town read Jay" isn't a "difficult" perspective to adopt, hypothetically. Nonetheless it's a start.

Thanks for the answer, Seanzie. No immediate gripes.

I haven't played a live chat game, but I might have played some formats that are close. I played some very casual games on Facebook, with forum-like phase lengths but sometimes chat-like pace. I've also played plenty of the IRL version and a little bit of video mafia. So I am, in a rudimentary sense, familiar with the live experience -- just not exactly the way that you are.

Lucy strikes me as comfortable and engaged. That's a good first impression for a second forum game ever and a first on this website.

the best of them are similar-ish to forum mafia except people aren’t reading the actual actions of other players, lots of PR’s and very little reads that aren’t based off NK’s and other deaths/failed tunnels/cop investigations. it’s live chat but also 24/24 where people are talking (not usually about the actual game though) and eventually some reads do occur out of live chatting and they’re voted on until they claim/fake claim, clusterfucks. most people make themselves available to talk for a bit more than once a day, there are breaks in actions. and at the end of the game all the active players are dead and it’s basically a coin toss of who wins because the alive players haven’t played the game closely at all, since they’re alive

I'm not sure I would describe lucy that way. She is involved, so in that sense one could call her "serious". It's not a term that comes to my mind though without you using it first.

@lucy, in your Discord Mafia experience, could you describe just briefly how that feels? I have never played a chat Mafia game. Is it a continuously torrent pace? Are there breaks in the action? Do players come and go at their leisure, or do they hover over the chat game all day? Hell, how long is a typical day phase in that style?

I dunno who on the roster here has been following the champs tournament, but we have a nice opportunity here to try to right the wrongs of the towns who have struggled there in the very same setup (15 people, 12 vs. 3 mountainous). This format is, from the word ~Go~, a pro-mafia setup. That's the nature of mountainous, and it means we will have to rise to the challenge. Beyond just the generic "play hard, k" mindset that ought to prevail in any game, I think we need to be especially mindful in this game of the core responsibilities that, in my experience, drive towns toward positive results.

[2] Teamwork
[3] Be right more than you're wrong

Obviously [3] is easier said than done, but we will do our best. The first two points are more directly within our individual control. Given this arrangement, if we can correctly identify seven civilians then we will win the game. So let's make that happen.
