I think the quality of the discourse in here has taken a sharp turn south since Desmond became relevant to our lives. I suggest we refocus. I felt decent about the trajectory of our hunt before all of this nonsense, and it is creating considerable distraction.

You don't have to ignore it or forget about it, but I advise putting a muzzle on it or something to prevent it from devouring your view of the game.

I think speedchuck is still well worse than Tony.

He has secondary abilities that provide him some utility in the event that he chooses not to kill Desmond.

Tony's right that his role, if mafia-aligned, also comes with implications that don't make sense.

Which means to me the role claim is bullshit.

Someone tell me how Tony's claimed role makes any sense whatsoever for a civilian if Desmond is also a civilian -- especially in a 9 vs. 4 game

The swing potential of such a thing is immense. The design doesn't make sense to me if A) is even possible though.

If Karen is a civilian, then than role is explicitly crippled. It has no purpose but to ruin the civilians; it is bastardized.

If Karen is a mafioso, then it's just a free kill without requiring any investigative work? Eh?

I can choose to kill a certain character on any odd night. If I'm scum, I look at the role cards at my team and then I either get more favorable numbers night 1 or I don't vig my mafia teammate. And I definitely wouldn't care about who I was killing.

Is there a reason why you wouldn't want to just broadcast the name of the character(s) you can kill publicly and see who does what with it?

Could be valid. I've a vague memory of a connection that could be drawn three-ways from TH to Tony through speedchuck. speed was awkwardly antagonistic of Turnip Head in a way that he wasn't of most others -- with the exception of Tony (I think; I need to verify). If the mafia are being squeezed out by POE, they need to expand that pool to stay viable. Maintaining FunnyGurl as a high suspect may fit that idea.
