Re: Book Club
Book finished... I'm ready to talk. Has anyone else finished it yet?
I found it to be a really beautiful book, well-constructed.

Re: Book Club
It's my favourite of Ffordes books. I think it managed to blend his rather unique style with thought-provoking ideas well. I nominated it because I want an excuse to read it againnijuukyugou wrote:1) Shades of Gray - read one of Fforde's books back in college and loved his style. This looks intriguing.
I have to research before I vote.

Re: Book Club
I already wanted to be a lawyer, but I had To Kill a Mockingbird as a required text in English when I was 16 and it sealed the deal.

Juliet tooks about book club, and epi says he isn't in the book club.Epignosis wrote:Hopefully nothing with too much humor. Sheesh! I wasn't ridiculing someone's picks or anybody's suggestions. I was taking satirical and sarcastic jabs at the authors, titles and content of each book in an attempt to get a few chuckles out of people. I'm not even in the book club, so I don't really care what anyone chooses to read..
ergo, Epi is Benjamin Linus.

Re: Book Club
Jane Eyre is not what I describe as lovely either. Mad woman dies in fire. Hero goes blind.
If I want to read a lovely book, I'll take To Say Nothing of the Dog, by Connie Willis.
