There's a really big reason I want to try and be the one to go in first. The host won't elaborate on it, so it's kind of my own theory I want to test. But it could potentially be bad for Smaug if I end up being right.
Can you yourself possibly elaborate a little more? I'm still trying to decide where to put my vote. I'm leaning towards myself or llama, but if you have an excellent reason...

(For the record, I too have solved it :D I'm just worried about losing teammates who might not have done so, but you make a good point about only one person possibly needing to anyway.)

Re: The Hobbit Mafia: Day 9

Re-read as much as I could in the short amount of time I have. It seems to be agreed that MM had his vote forced, so I won't vote that way. INH pings me the most at this moment for reasons already stated. I re-read some of the arguments against Kyle and really good points were made, especially about the Moria Goblins suddenly able to kill again after Kyle replaced AP, a known-inactive player for reasons out of his control. I wouldn't mind seeing either of these two lynched today, but I think the stronger case is for Kyle. I don't like INH's sudden reactions and find them to be extremely suspicious, but sudden Goblin kills are more suspicious and way more dangerous for us in the future. Voting Kyle.

Re: The Hobbit Mafia: Day 9

Wow on many things.

Yikes, didn't realize I was posting less than a deadie since Day 1  My apologies for being so quiet. Not making any excuses - I am shy at first, but I'll try to post a bit more :)

I've read...many things. I'd like to go back and look back at the cases against k4j and MM, but I've been quite interested in the INH discussion, since it's been so prevalent in the last few hours. I notice:

a) That INH was absent, as people said, until his name was brought up today, and there was an explosion of defensive posts. Now, I can understand that one would check in to respond to accusations against oneself. Perfectly logical. But at the extent it's been going? And suddenly today, on lynch day? Smells fishy.

b) The posts are defensive, understandably, but as at least one other person said, in an explosive, rather sarcastic way on many occasions. It's difficult to take you seriously or look at someone else, or even bring an argument forth with you, when your responses are so caustic. You can't blame people if that looks like a wild animal (AKA baddie) being cornered. I also notice that your recent posts do not contribute anything new to the conversation. I am curious, INH - if you are not the baddie, or if we shouldn't be suspicious of you for the reasons stated, then who should we look at? Are there other arguments you can put forth towards your "goodness" besides the ones you've stated for being quiet (IRL and hosting)? Because I didn't see those in your responses so far.

Re: The Hobbit Mafia: Day 8

Still not feeling so great about Snow Dog, and I'm not sure how to read these pleas/appeals (as stated, you're not lynched yet...). But I'm now more interested with this evidence that has been piling up against TH 1 versus 2 (one being a bold baddie hunter, and two being...wishy-washy and not so bold. Hmmm). I'm not familiar with his playing style, but others who are have been saying things along the same lines: Civ TH hunts and talks more, Baddie TH stays quiet, TH all around can be hard to read (that last part's not particularly helpful). TH 2.0 appears to be leaning towards the Baddie TH.

I really, really want to take a nap (my smoke alarm decided to sing the song of its people to let me know the battery was low at 3:40 this morning), and I refuse to miss another vote, so I'm going with TH today.

Re: The Hobbit Mafia: Day 8

Wow, lots of thoughts/things going on!

1) Of course we'd like neutrals to be on our side, but of course we also don't know who they are exactly, and they don't know us, and they're gonna win with whoever beats the other. I agree that it's best just to keep on trying to find baddies instead of focusing on the state of the elves - that is our main goal, is it not? If the neutrals do it right and we do our job, they'll win with us.

2) Sorry, Snow Dog, but you're pinging me pretty badly, too, and that's before I read others' takes on what you've said. Specifically separating yourself and CBK from Boogs voters immediately after you ask for baddies? (It also read grammatically like you were calling yourself a baddie, although I'm sure that was unintentional :P) Suggesting other people were "non-genuine" with their votes when you were one of the last to get him? Then suggesting AP (seemingly) out of the blue? Perhaps I missed something, but that looks very odd. Very odd indeed.

I do, however, have lots of time to hear defenses of all that has been brought against you. I'm all ears! (Well, eyes. But still!)

Boogs - my evaluation of you the other day revealed nothing pingy to me, and I'm sorry I haven't been more vocal about it than just the last time I posted (I'm an observer in RL and that carries over into mafia) I still feel that way, and I've noticed you have on several occasions mentioned looking at the same people that others have "forgotten" (Daisy, for instance) since earlier in the game that people seem to ignore. That smells fishy to me, and I'll be taking a look at them today, too.

Re: The Hobbit Mafia: Day 6

Apologies for being a bit MIA - Father's Day festivities and whatnot, and attempting to catch up.

As someone stated, I'm not comfortable voting someone at the moment who can't speak for himself (Epig). Plus, I'm literally crying I'm laughing so hard at the ridiculous vomit pictures, so I'll leave him be for now.

I've re-read the people with the highest number of votes so far (Boogs and Vompatti). I'm not getting any really strong baddie vibes from Boogs. He goes in a lot of different directions, but there are also several baddies to catch, so that's not necessarily a bad thing to do. We'll see as we keep playing.

Vompatti, on the other hand, looks sketchy. People keep saying there's nothing out of the ordinary in his game, but as someone relatively new, I can't make that argument and the play is weird to me. His posting looks like a joke that's gone on longer than it should - playing with bold sarcasm and nonchalance, but then not stopping, even when the threat of being lynched is in the cards. Aside from offering a bunch of gold for his not being lynched, there's not much else he's said in the way of defending himself, and again, the only defense I've seen from others is "this is not out of the ordinary for him." It all amuses me so, but also makes me think he's bad.

So, voting Vompatti.

Re: The Hobbit Mafia: Night 5

I got caught up in real life/work stuff (danged graduation mess) and before I knew it, it was 5:30...UGH! :( RIP Mongoose. I'm not gonna lie: I was planning on putting my vote that way again.

At the moment, I'm not looking too hard at llama. I think it would be rather risky to put himself out there so enthusiastically only to vote a Civ out (as he said, it would be a kamikaze mission). It doesn't completely rule him out, but it also doesn't automatically peg him as bad. As I said before, what's way more suspicious is the bandwagon vote. The numbers indicate that baddies were more than happy to vote someone they knew wasn't on their team, and let llama take the blame for it when it went sour for the Civs. The last Day period was rather quiet in comparison to the other Days, so it should be easier to look back at some suspicious behavior (I hope).

As for the Night poll...since I missed out on some gold this last poll, I'm leaning towards going with the stranger. I feel dangerous :feb:

I, too, found this sudden enthusiasm VERY fishy. Votes for Mongoose went from 2 for the last two lynches to almost EVERYONE this time around. Understandably, several people were rightfully voting for baddies in the first two polls, but this time it was a little too (nearly) unanimous, and I'm sure the numbers don't add up to all Civs. Although I've only played one other game, I never remember anything like this happening. Also, love the Pink Floyd reference :D

As for the lynch result, I am conflicted with Mongoose's role; I'm happy to vote again to see the next result, but I also don't want to waste it if she is, indeed Smaug (if Smaug has the power to avoid being lynched). I'm leaning towards trying again, however.

And spiders? Ugh. Don't like bugs. My first instinct was to run, but people are making good points about how we're "more prepared" this time around. But what would we be fighting with? The diary I remembered to bring?

For the record, good sir, I voted along with you last time. I believe I will vote the same again:

a) to prove that someone IS listening to you, llama, and that someone else finds Mongoose a bit fishy after reading, re-reading, and re-re-reading, for essentially the same reasons you've stated over and over again (over-defensiveness, being wishy-washy, etc). I won't re-hash the details since they've been repeated to what seems no avail for you.

b) to avoid voting for Elo, who doesn't seem suspicious even after a re-read. Sure, Epi's been right about wifey in the past, but he's also been wrong. Very, very wrong, even at his own admitting. c) to avoid voting for Boogs. I feel like I can only keep track of a few people at a time in such a huuuuuuge game, and Boogs is not someone who has caught my eye yet. I don't really have a great reason for this except, like I just said, I can only keep track of a few at a time, and right now it's llama, Mongoose, Epi, and Eloh. Once again, I don't want to be responsible for a tie/tie breaker just by voting someone I'm not even sure about.

So, voting Mongoose.

Good god, y'all post fast, and I thought I caught up in the middle of the day...

Well, since lunchtime apparently Elo has been suspected, but I don't feel strongly about that one, so I won't throw my vote that way.

I also don't have strong feelings towards k4j or FZ, but I did marathon read last night, so I may have missed something.

I'm running out of time (stupid one lane road and two school buses...ugh rural town) and I was leaning with llama earlier, so at the risk of being called out for not breaking/playing with a tie I'm not comfortable with being responsible for (plus, I'd like to see the results of the tie if it ends up that way!), I'm going with Mongoose for the defensive factor I saw/mentioned/saw mentioned in earlier posts. Okay. Quick thoughts before bed (apologies for repetition):

1) I don't believe MP was throwing a baddie teammate under the bus, simply because I think there are enough people on Day 1 not to have to do that. Why try that strategy so early, especially with so many different teams in this game?

2) I won't completely discount that one of MP's late voters might be a baddie/Indy. However, I also think it's too early to tell, so I'm not leaning in that direction at this point.

3) Llama is either pinging me with weird accusations (the MM argument with the times and the high posting/no content, for example), or I see him as a Civ genuinely baddie hunting and throwing ideas out for people to think about, which isn't a crime. At this point I'm leaning towards the latter, because at this point what other strategy do we have other than reaching in the dark and hoping that our accusations are correct? Plus, I think his accused seem rather more defensive than they need to be.

Those are my partial-gut, partial-logic thoughts, and perhaps I'll get some more insight from the accused before tomorrow's vote.

Okay, that was totally not a quick thought, but I've GOT to go to bed. Sorry if I've left a detail out that needs clarification. One more effing week of work...Can't wait to ruin my sleep cycle again for the summer :)

Re: The Hobbit Mafia

Yay for lynching a baddie on the first Day! (and sorry you're leaving so soon, MP - it was fun playing with you for a bit!)

I wish I could vote underpants, because for some reason I've forgotten to pack those on more than one occasion. Oops.

But I think I will go with rope, because I'd probably never think of that, whereas I'd eat, drink, and write to my heart's content on a journey :D

Randomized and got BunnyKiller. I guess I'll be saving those poor, poor bunnies? :p
Oops, that's CAPTAIN Bunny Killer. Not just a regular one.

Damn, I just noticed this today! It's because I'm THE best one within the radius that I haven't posted since...whenever I posted. Yikes.

My life is back together, so more relevant posts to follow soon!

Re: The Hobbit Mafia

Hooray, it's started!

Voted for the second option. Until I'm off of work for the summer and can go back to my regular horrible sleep schedule late at night, I can't stay up until midnight waiting for polls (and I probably won't sleep waiting til morning :) ) I won't, however, be heartbroken if "Yes" wins.

Yay again!
