Re: 2022 Album Releases to Check Out

Ants From Up There by Black Country, New Road has been my favorite album of the year by far, and even of the last decade. They're an experimental rock band from the UK, and while the opening track suggests this might be another exploit in that realm, what unfolds after is a beautiful, melancholic, arty album. I love it. I gave it a perfect rating, and still can't get over how good it is. @nutella would agree.

Tongues by Tanya Tagaq is one of the most original albums I've heard in while. Post-industrial sounds, spoken word, haunting creepy delivery at times, I think it's a very unique release and worth checking out.

The Long Road North is another excellent release from The Cult of Luna. If you're into sludge metal, I recommend it. I think it's one of their better releases in over a decade.

Venator by Mechina is another solid symphonic metal album.

Weatherglow is a collab between Asian Glow and Weatherday that I've listened to once and liked, though I know very little about either of these artists except that they're supposed to be up and coming pop-adjacent artists.

Animals as Leaders (djent/prog-metal) and SHXCXCHCXSH (industrial techno) each just released a new album on Friday that I haven't listened to yet.

That's all I got for now!
