Hope you're well

I really did!

You definitely hit me with the nostalgia with Terrapin Station, that was one of my favorite songs 10 years ago or so, and I still love it. Polyphia I hadn't heard of until bwt subbed it early on in the walrus, but I liked some of their music, in particular the song you subbed.

Slothrust is probably the one that I was most excited about that you subbed. I hadn't heard of them at all before, and I really liked the ambience in that one.

Thanks again for subbing, I hope you're doing well. <3

Oh that percussion rules!! I'm digging this sub right off the bat. And those synths that eventually creep in. OH MY FUCKING GOD!! I can't get enough of this song. I wish it were twice as long tbh, this could totally have kept doing the same thing for another 10 minutes and I would've just stayed lost in it.

Ok. Wow. I have listened to this song like, at least 50 times in the last couple months. I came across this album recently and freaking loved it!!! Enough to sub this track to JJJ's walrus even. This has all the things I love about Talking Heads, but it is not the Talking Heads. Similar guitar tones, bass tones. But they add the length and song variance that Talking Heads never did strive for, and I love it. The entire second half off the song just grabs my ears and goes and goes and goes and goes and goes and goes. PERFECT!

So. I subbed this to Nanook's walrus. I received 0 platypus. I was sad. Fuck that, this is getting 9 platypi. I love this song. I love the occasional jarring piano chords being played to emphasize the song. I love the cadence. The conversational manner of the vocals, and I fucking adore the theme of this song: patriarchy and it's stranglehold on much of our society.

Do not watch this video if you are prone to seizures. The visual choices by the uploader are extremely questionable. This song choice as a sub was not. I knew some people would sub some extremely bass-centric show-offy jams, and this is just that. Downside of an album like this? I have no idea who is who given it is 3 bassists goin' to town. The outcome is mostly nice. After the first listen, I do find myself feeling slightly bored at times, given it's a little one-dimensional. The often avoid that feeling, but not always.

The bassline on this song is definitely an unforgettable one by anyone who was alive after 1969 and has at least half a functioning ear. It's good. I'm not the biggest Zepplin fan. I used to love Zepplin III through Physical Grafitti era Zeppelin a lot, though I never loved their debut quite like others did. But one thing I do love about this song is how the bass sets the tone for every other feature. every section of the song, is introduced by the bass, and followed after by the rest. Vocals? Eh, they're ok. The bass? It fuckin' vibrates my soul. Listen to that sucker oscillating like a jackhammer down there. And then we get a bass solo?! (sorta, at 3:50). And another one?! The instrumental section we get at 4:30 was pretty spectacular, I like how all the instruments were doing something, while still being somewhat complimentary. The drum solo at the end felt slightly out of place though.

The mixing doesn't do the bass a lot of favors on this song at times, but it's enjoyable when it does stand out. The song itself to me is mediochre rock, maybe slightly better than that. I do like the fuzziness of it, on one hand it dates the song, but I think it adds a little in this case.

Nice band name. That's my favorite part of this tbh. Psychedelic is kinda hit-or-miss to me, and this doesn't really do it for me. Except for the bridge in the middle, that was prettty sick. Otherwise, the bass is just obscure enough that I don't love it. It's weird, it is nice and bouncy and there, but it's also kinda masked. The song is fine.

I swear, the bass plays the same note for the first two minutes. The middle third is kinda nice. The guitar almost sounds like a saxophone, in a good way! I don't like how the singer finishes her lines though, they're squealy and unpleasantly so. There's a couple good thing here, but overall I didn't care for it.

LOL. There's probably samplings of this in an actual song.
