So frustrating being deaded in a game where I had so much to say!!!! Although I was convinced that Elo was Hiram and I would have entirely messed with that whole theory. On the show, Hiram's Violet Head bought Cecil in an auction and used him to protect Dana several times (before returning Cecil to himself). Alas.
Fun game to play and to follow from the grave.

Re: Welcome to Night Vale Mafia [NIGHT 3]
TSP seems to think that you are Cecil, and that he had special reason to know that, which you would likely know about. I don't want you to role claim, but I'll ask a more general question: Do you have reason to doubt the way Elo flipped?DrWilgy wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2017 9:58 pmU wot m8? If you have specific questions I can try to answer them and I will check with the mod to see the specifics of what I can / can't say.
Main points:
Wilgy is Cecil because secrets
Eloh is Cecil because she flipped that way
One of them (probably Eloh) is actually Kevin
I keep trying to catch up, but then keep being distracted. I've been building a new bedroom attached to my folk's house all weekend and I have several hundred posts to read through. I really stopped paying attention while my posts were short and sweet. Sorry fam.
I think TSP, JoH, and Golden are all good lynch candidates?

Main pro: He sounds honest. And I want to believe him, because I'm empathetic like that.
Main cons: Could be Marcus. Won't share information about multiple claims. Things that he is saying just don't add up. Reads Elo well enough to believe she must be bad, but didn't know her gender. There were a few other pings throughout his posts, but can't remember.

Re: Welcome to Night Vale Mafia [NIGHT 3]
As we are in dawn, and I fear death, I offer the following:
I'm eying TSP, INH, and--to a lesser extent--Epi the most coming into this lynch. Epi less so, although I was suspecting him more before the last lynch, so he's still on the lynch, even though he made me feel better. TSP and INH I'm feeling not at all good about.

- Look for Tamika in Eloh's suspects, as she was possibly role blocked
- In a situation where Eloh died as the result of a tie, it means that Marcus is one of sprityo and INH, and the Glow Cloud forced someone's vote away from TSP onto Eloh. This could mean that TSP is a teammate of the Glow Cloud.
That said, that is how forced votes usually work--with the player having to physically vote a certain way.

Re: Welcome to Night Vale Mafia [NIGHT 3]
I was figuring Dana. I can't figure out what other role would be able to switch a lynch. I'm also including what powers would make sense of civ roles with secrets. Occam's Razor tells me not to trust him, but he seems so earnest.speedchuck wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2017 7:55 pm WELCOME INTERLOPER QUIN
What is his implied role? I'm having trouble following.LoRab wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2017 7:38 pm And you're implying that you got a message that told you that Wilgy is Cecil. But that's now 2 claims that you think might be something but you can't say anything as to why. Which doesn't inspire confidence. That said, I believe that you believe that you figured something. So, please share more.
For the record, there are two roles at least that interact with Cecil at night. TSP can't be those, or he's be dead. Then even other roles might affect Cecil by chance targeting, which is then something that might affect the broadcast. So... not impossible.
Curious about Wilgy's response.
Playing without role claims is weird.

But the mechanics that Cecil, a civ, has no consistent night power, is also weird mechanics.
How many games have you played with Elo that you know her game well enough to be that confident that she's bad?

What did Cecil say night 1 that screamed Wilgy to you? I know you say you don't remember, but if you reread the message, might you? Here it is:

I've asked Station Management if broadcasting the tapes over the air is allowed, and was met with purple flames and a note slipped under their door that simply read, "Yes." So, here goes:
*Whispers* Listeners?? Can you hear me? This is Cecil, whomever is currently reporting the news and the events of the intern relay is not me. I don't know who they are, or what their intentions are but it seems that I was somehow entered in the intern relay.
I'm currently using a mobile station to broadcast to you, or at least I hope I'm broadcasting to you.
I do not think it is currently safe for me to leave the relay and return to the radio station, especially with the current mood of station management. Besides, I thought I had seen Carlos nearby with his beautiful hair and beings who are definitely not angels. Maybe if I report while participating in the relay, I can bump into beautiful Carlos.
It grieves me to think that intern Made wasn't actually supposed to be sacrificed to station management. Even if Made turned out to be Steve Carlsberg, we should be sure to only sacrifice the interns who aren't actually interns... or at least the unfriendly interns. Steve Carlsberg may not have been the best guy, but I don't think he was the one who needed to be sacrificed today.
Listeners... What is this? In front of me, there is... There is a package and... it seems to be from the city council, and...
Oh no...
There's a birds beak, a rusty screw and 3 nails. The only explanation for this is that there has been a mischedule and the intern relay may be interrupted by street cleaners.
Listeners, I must go. I will continue to investigate what is happening and will hopefully return to you as soon as I can. To all interns in the relay keep an eye out for wild street cleaners, and review who chose who to be sacrificed and their reasons why. I'm looking at you intern Epignosis, you know what you did, yes you do.
Listeners, I apologize for the ten minutes of static and sizzling you just heard - something seems to be wrong with our tape player. I'll keep working on it and get back to you if anything develops.

Here's what I take from this:
1) Tony had deliberate control over the target
2) Tony believed Elo to be StrexCorp
3) Tony has been trying to figure out why he is wrong, and has come up with a possiblity.
Now to figure out if this is a good look or a bad look for Tony, to have so much potential information and power.
2) Believed him to be bad and believed that someone else was Cecil. See Cecil's radio notes Night 1. Kevin popped out as the immediate suspect for replacement when I noticed the pictures and occupation.
3) Yep.
I take it you think that the messages from night 1 and night 2 were written by different people? What makes you think that? Do you think Cecil only gets his power sometimes? Or do you think that LA was Cecil and Kevin replaced the messages once Cecil was dead? What benefit would there be to the team thinking that fourth votes didn't count--why do you think this?
What do you mean about the pictures?
Did you think that Wilgy was Cecil? If so, why?
Also, Elo is a she.

That's a complicated question, and not entirely a known answer. The answer itself is also kind of complicated. I agreed with INH's above post about Maf trying to use these curses to control the conversation.Boomslang wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2017 5:06 pm Hmm. The thing that's most caught my attention today is the INH/TSP/Lorab back and forth about curse theories. I think INH's analysis has a lot of merit—it points us toward the Politicians team containing at least one member with a decent amount of experience on the site, someone who would know to look to previous recent games for messy posting restrictions. This line really speaks to me: "By intentionally choosing to do the same thing with Dom and Rot3k, they're essentially designing a Venn Diagram of people they want us to look at." And lo and behold, the lists people are throwing out are creating those Venn diagrams of lynch suspects.
Lorab's responses feel earnestly civ, as Eloh recently mentioned. TSP's responses, on the other hand, seem dismissive of the curse investigation as a whole. First to INH, then to Lorab, who have opposite views of the curses:
For that matter, Speedchuck is being noncommittal about the curse interpretation as well, but in a less aggressive way.TonyStarkPrime wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2017 3:31 pm Maybe more likely in neither, or teammates were in on a game and suggested quirks. I tend to agree with INH's theory, but it could really go both ways. I don't like scum misleading us, and either the curses are doing that or INH is possibly scum and is reverse misleading us.
In any case, we're being presented with curses that we can ignore, rather than curses that limit conversation. In the interest of not being misled, I'm going to do just that. For the most part, ignore the curses.

Plus, this line of thinking ignores that a baddie team is a TEAM, thus you just need one member to have played one game, and one member to have played the other.
And that's exactly the point I was making, and the reason I included both lists.

It seems unlikely, to me, that someone following a game and not playing would know that 2 different self-imposed posts were a thing in 2 different games. Think of it like this: Rico's curse on D2 attracted a crazy amount of heat for people involved with Blue Velvet. By intentionally choosing to do the same thing with Dom and Rot3k, they're essentially designing a Venn Diagram of people they want us to look at.
Odds are seeming higher and higher to me that the Faceless Old Woman was involved with one at most of these games, and researched gimmicks players used in games she wasn't in to mislead the town and cause mislynches.
There are two possible motives FOW has for cursing people with old-game-specific posting restrictions: Sheer fuckery, or to mislead the town.

Re: Welcome to Night Vale Mafia [DAY 3]
Seems like either a "this would be hilarous" choice or a "let's pick an unlikely target so every talks about why we did it" choice.speedchuck wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2017 10:18 am So does anyone have any thoughts about Rico being silenced? It seems weird. First one team curses him, then the other silences him. Of course, the curse could be for the weird novelty thing that's going on, but the silencing comes from the other team.
Rico's big targets have been Golden and INH. He thinks INH is behind the hexing, but the silence comes from the other team. It doesn't even work as a frame job.
Who else has Rico suspected? TSP, as of his last readlist. With a few sideeyes
linkitis: So, (living) players who were in both Romance of the Three and Blue Velvet (assuming INH provided an accurate list): INH, Wilgy, Timmer, and Rico. Also Dom, who was the mod for Blue Velvet.
And, having just scanned the beginning of blue velvet, I now see that Rico also made up poppy as a self-imposed thing. So, both are not just things that the player was cursed with, but something that they both started doing on their own. So, it really has to be something who was involved in both games.

Re: Welcome to Night Vale Mafia [DAY 3]
I think Epi has a point. Both curses have been connected to a prior curse in a game that the player was connected to. The Poppy thing in a game INH hosted (on a player who did/is self-imposing a post restriction), and now Dom being cursed with a style that he himself had initiated on himself. There's a pattern. The question is, who would do that?
The other question is, do we focus on that, or do we focus on who we think might be LC's teammates. Given that I think Epi is one of said teammates, I think he's also trying to draw us away from that line of thinking.

Re: Welcome to Night Vale Mafia [DAY 3]
OK, it's driving me crazy that the whole thing isn't in one place. So, here is, in full, my entry for Poetry Week.
A sonnet, by LoRab:
Ancient blood stones, we hope give a sign,
Purple sky’s myst’ry lights aglow
Invisible lines through partial stars shine,
Though mostly void, o’er this town we all know.
The clouds and dragons, faceless ones so old;
False gods who fill this place, threaten us near and far;
Strex Corp obeys the smiling one so bold;
Italian woman and then Huntokar.
A voice on radio comes through the air,
Tattooed tentacles covering his arm.
He hugs the scientist with perfect hair,
always okay, never coming to harm.
For love is love is love and cannot fail.
And so I say now: Welcome to Night Vale.

Crapweasel, I screwed up a rhyme in editing on stanza 2. EBWOP:
*The clouds and dragons, faceless ones so old;
False gods who fill this place, threaten us near and far;
Strex Corp obeys the smiling one so bold;
Italian woman and then Huntokar.

I totally played it! Lost to Simon in a duel day 12. I was Taishi Ci.
And I found it by going to the Hall of Fame page and looking at games played within the year that I played in. It had to be within a year of now, because Trump.

Re: Welcome to Night Vale Mafia [NIGHT 2]
OK, I hesitated on this, but I need to say this. I am pretty sure you are a nice person, so I don't think you need to be insulting to people, but you are coming off as insulting people. In this example, I don't think Golden needs lessons in how to use curses effectively--and usually, at least around these parts, a curse that would actually cause a modkill would probably be against the rules. And, really, we all know how to use curses.Jackofhearts2005 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2017 6:01 pmSeriously.Golden wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2017 5:15 pm Like ricos readslist, even though he continues to tunnel incorrectly on me. I'd probably have to catch every baddie for him to reconsider. I'll just give you a dose of wifom and say - I'd not agree to curse you. It was an irrational decision and I don't like me or my teammates using their powers to be more amusing than effective. At very least I'd argue strenuously against it.
In jacks analysis, the thing that stood out that I hadn't noticed before was lcs attempt to poke holes in tsps attempts to stop looking like Marcus. My guess is that if tsp is bad, he's a politician.
That post restriction is less distracting than his self imposed one.
Remind me to pm you good examples of how to use a curse after the game is over.
A good curse can detain a day or cause a modkill.
Plus, not everyone even played in the Poppy game. It's irrelevant now cause LC knew about it but you needlessly confirm that mafia isn't say, Jack/Tony/Slam.
Up yer game, scum.
I am not wrong about game theory because I disagree with you. Epig, actually, does know how to read. And silencing roles aren't inherently bad and a poor role to use in games.
The way you think about games and your strategy are not better than anyone else's. You are playing with people who have a lot of experience--we are not newbies. We may play a game different from the ones you are used to playing on other sites--but this site evolved out of the games that we've been playing for years.
Several of your posts have seemed to teeter on the side of being personal about players, instead of just saying you think they are bad. And it, quite honestly, doesn't compel me to want to read your posts. Please try to be more considerate and generally respectful of other people, and their experience, in your posts. Thank you.
What's that, Marcus? You were tracking the vote and it was absolutely a tie when I voted--unless, you happen to know that it actually wasn't because there was already an extra vote on another player....Epignosis wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2017 8:31 pm I looked at the votes with the alternate view that Long Con was being thrown under the bus. I don't think that happened either. speedchuck voted first, as he did with Made. I don't think Lorab is the type to shell a teammate like that (although I don't know what she meant about ties- I don't recall it being a tie when she voted). sprityo's reasons for voting LC look organic enough. INH voted to save his own ass.
No, Long Con's team stayed on the sidelines.
I've been reading you as increasingly bad this whole night cycle. Your posts are way too similar to those in the office when we were baddies together--I'm more and more convinced that you totally were attempting to save LC, and now you're trying to debunk the theory that you did exactly what you did.
This post tipped the scales.

Why do you think INH is likely LC's teammate? The start of any suspicion on him was that he was the Faceless Old Woman (or on that team)--that's the Politicians, not Strex. Can you explain why you put him with LC?TonyStarkPrime wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2017 2:10 pmI figured it would make me look less like Marcus and I thought they were both about the same level of scumminess.Epignosis wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2017 1:24 pmI didn't want to vote for LC because I didn't have much of an opinion on him.Jackofhearts2005 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2017 1:16 pm K.
Why didn't you want to vote for LC, Epi?
You don't think Golden's "playing the ball" arguement held more water than "You know, I bet INH would give a Poppy curse"?
Why do you think Tony voted INH, considering he's barely played with the guy?
I don't understand Golden's "playing the ball" argument. I also don't care for someone voting and then trying to get other people to vote somewhere else.
I don't know why Tony voted INH. You could ask him.
It didnt work.
New pairings:
Strex Maf:
LC / (Epi or INH) / (Dom or DF)
And I feel like Elochin is in there but I can't figure out how.
INH and Dom probably aren't paired because then I feel we would have seen a half way serious lynch attempt on someone else.

Re: Welcome to Night Vale Mafia [NIGHT 2]
So, you're town reading me, but you don't pay attention to my suspicions? Although, since I do suspect you, I actually get that. But yes, I reread LC yesterday, I read him as bad (tone read mostly), and I said as much, a few times before voting. I would have voted earlier (I voted about 10 minutes before EOD), but I wanted to save my vote in case I needed to protect someone I believed to be civ, but that I wanted to vote LC if all things were equal.Jackofhearts2005 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2017 10:24 amIndeed.Golden wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2017 2:12 amNow, I never want townies to give up. SVS stopped trying to get a mafia member lynched and MP stopped trying at all. The mafia was able to take advantage and push a mislynch on MP.
But, to my perspective, giving up is a different thing to self-voting or asking people to vote for you. I asked people to vote for me today. I did it because I wanted to see if they actually would, and because I felt the way they reacted to that could be telling. It did lead me to treat Dom and LC very differently and end up pushing in the opposite direction to where I began.
I took your call for votes as a game of chicken to feel out your accusers, not a belief that your death would help the town. That is entirely different from throwing in the towel/flipping the table.
@Lorab
"Teeth" is in regards to the argument, not your ability. Your wrongness is on game theory and me. If you suspected LC and said as much, that was in one ear and out the other, likely due to style (since I'm town reading you). Do you like to tilt at windmills?
Linki haha INH
Also: I am not wrong on game theory, I just have a different philosophy about mafia than you do, perhaps because of a different mafia background. Nearly my entire mafia history is in games that are exactly like this. With every role being a power role, not finding out roles for night kills, etc. We think about mafia differently. That doesn't mean that either of us is wrong.
And I can be quixotic, yes.
I can't figure out what that one means. Is it like the blob head side eye? Stronger than a shrug, but not quite a wolf?
I'm not Man in the Tan Jacket Holding a Deerskin Suitcase. I agree with you that Golden could be.
I can't decide if that role is threatening or not.
And I can't believe you have me actually reading your posts and trying to understand you. *shakes fist*
No, I think he's saying that you're not Strex. And no idea if you're man in the tan jacket.

Re: Welcome to Night Vale Mafia [NIGHT 2]
Not sure. I speculated that his being silenced didn't sit well, and nothin he has said since then has sat any better.
Also, he hasn't answered why he voted for you, even after being overtly asked. I'm curious to see that answer.
At this point, unsure, but not feeling great. And after the post below, yeah, suspicion growing.
First off, I don't think we've played together before. Or, if we have, not a lot. And I realize that my style is a lot different from what people are used to--especially if they've played elsewhere. So, I take suspicion with a grain of salt as a general rule. And accept that people are going to suspect me for being me. Curious what all the things I've been wrong about are. I suspected that LC was bad and I was right. Nothing else has been proven one way or another that I've talked about. And I was nice to Dom because I've known him for a decade and I consider him a friend. You are right--that is not alignment indicative. However, I read him as civ, which is my honest read of him as a player.Jackofhearts2005 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 21, 2017 1:26 am
Lorab - Not sure why people think she's town. Cause she was nice to Dom? Not alignment indicative. None of her content sticks out to me. Lots of posts. Talking to talk? Places second vote on LC, though. Not SMaf, likely. (All non SMaf players are statistically likely to be town but I want her to be bad for being wrong about everything I remember her saying. Wrong does not always equal bad. Additionally, her teammates would warn her about what she's been doing. That is, I'm a damn good dancer so she's not getting me lynched on her own. I'm also sensitive to players' reactions to me. So going after Jack during the day when you are mafia without a lot of teeth to the accusation is a bad move....and therefore something I see good Lorab more likely to do.)
As for the theoretical teammates warning me about going after you because you're a good dancer and I wouldn't bother if I had been warned? Seriously?! First off, I didn't go after you during the day when you were silenced--I mentioned the possibility that you could be bad, which is totally different. Second, if you don't think I have the teeth to go after a strong player on little evidence but noticing small things, then you have clearly never played with me. (and, if you have teammates, which I suspect you do, have not listened to their comments about me, assuming that they have played with me. And, since I suspect LC is one of your teammates, I assume he's given you a good overview). And, my choice of who to go after, in general, is not at all alliance indicative. As many players here can attest.
TLDR: Yeah, I suspect you. Game on.
